Facts are the only tools that the Tinubu’s Critics and the Opposition from the North or South can only use to decide whether or not Tinubu would deserve to be re-elected in 2027
It’s only fair to let the voters decide which candidate gets their votes based on their score card and overall performance.
There is no way in the world that Tinubu would not be re-elected in more than 2/3rd of the 36 States of Nigeria plus the FTC.
Those prematurely writing Tinubu’s obituary are delusional and insulting the intelligence of the Nigerian voters.
Too much hunger and too much bloodshed says Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, is why some powerful elements in the Arewa North are Hell-bent on not voting for Tinubu based on his renewed hope agenda which has paid off big time based on the analysis I am going to itemize in the remaining paragraphs of this write-up, if you bear with me.
Tinubu’s critics are happier with the Status Quo that Tinubu has cautiously modified and consolidated based on his renewed hope Agenda.
Let’s begin by briefly comparing and contrasting the Status Quo under Buhari and what his renewed hope agenda has been all about for the great majority of voters.
Part of the Status Quo is that the Arewa wants to go, Biafra wants to go and the Oodua nation and the Minority South/ South also want to go.
Do they still want to go or they now have more faith in the country than before based on verifiable data and concrete and demonstrable achievement that Tinubu has made more than 2 years into his Presidency.
I can tell you that critics who are prematurely writing the obituary of Tinubu are delusional.
They forget that when voters begin to feel the impact of what the President has done to open up the country thru a network of Highways and by removing Subsidy and paying off the IMF and the World Bank Loans and the money to service them and by freeing up enough funds to go to all of the State and Local Governments, Tinubu has done what Napoleon could not do and has offered the whole country a new lease of life to grow and to prosper better than all of his predecessors combined.
Before I end this piece, I want to critically articulate the “Status Quo” which has never worked well for Nigeria.
The Arewa Group or the PDP is trying to repeat the Obasanjo versus Olu Falae scenario of 1999 by trying to run Seyi Makinde against the Ajagunmole Oluwo Orun of Nigerian Politics that Tinubu has already taken away from Obasanjo.
The PDP forget one thing however that the dynamics of the 1999 Race were completely different from what obtains today in Nigeria. The breakaway of ADC from the PDP has fundamentally weakened the PDP
First of all Seyi Makinde does not currently have the same appeal and political wizardry of a Tinubu or the Afenifere magic that made Oluyemi Falae to completely trounce Obasanjo in 1999 in the Southwest and in his polling booth in Abeokuta while winning convincingly in the North so the Nottherners could claim that Obasanjo was a Prophet without honor in his own home and that without the North Obasanjo could never have been elected.
The North therefore insisted that Obasanjo must willy nillly dance to their tune and never to the best interest of Nigeria as a true Federalist State which is what Nigeria needs to be if Nigeria is to survive as one country.
The moribund PDP now wants to make Seyi Makinde the Obasanjo of 1999 and turn Tinubu into an Oluyemi Falae which is not going to happen, given where Nigeria is today.
Tinubu would still win convincingly the whole of the Southwest and even in Oyo State where Seyi Makinde would receive his best result
Tinubu is going to perform a lot better in the Southeast and in the South/ South and even in some of the 3 Geopolitical Zones of the North to emerge the overall winner despite all of the gang up and the conspiracy of Atiku, and El Rufai and David Mark.
It is a prediction I am able to make right now but subject to the final assessment and conclusion of Olayiwola Alaga and his team at the Yoruba World Center of our premier University of Ibadan which I would respect and would never criticize or second-guess.
I rest my case.
