The Myth and Mystery of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a nutshell.
Nigerian voters must watch the interview of “Seyi Law on Tinubu”widely publicized by the up and coming Ebony Herald Online Tabloid before they rush to judgment on those who are prematurely writing off the Obituary of BAT.
I served briefly under the most benevolent politician and “the best President Nigeria never had” as defined by Ikemba Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu the Oxford-trained Nigerian who had led the first attempt to break up Nigeria by leading the Biafra War from 1967 to 1970.
I was the Secretary to the Special Task Force on Student Financing set up by General Yakubu Gowon in 1974.
Pa Obafemi was the Chairman. The 3 other members of the Task Force were Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Shettima Ali Monguno and Chief Wenike Briggs.
I am the only alive today among the 4 History makers who came to know each of them like a book because I worked closely with them and I knew them well.
I am not just running my mouth like many Nigerian commentators do. At 80 years and above, I have earned my bragging rights to share with the younger generation the little I know about my country.
If you agree, like I do, that Pa Obafemi Awolowo was the greatest transformative and benevolent politician and leader Nigeria has produced, based on his milestone achievements, you will have no choice than to agree with the views expressed by Seyi Law in the video in question posted by Ebony Herald.
You can say anything you want about Tinubu. Next to Pa Obafemi Awolowo in the psyche of Nigerians by way of Awo’s concrete achievements, you cannot dismiss with the wave of the hand, my conclusion in this write-up.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu comes next to Awo in my judgment.
I would argue that Tinubu is even more consequential than Pa Obafemi Awolowo in one or two respect, If you follow his political evolution and trajectory and History like I do in some of my past articles on Tinubu you all can google for verification.
Tinubu is not an academic or intellectual guru like Awo who was a very brilliant lawyer and a very sound Economist
BAT was an Accountant by profession and the highest position in Accounting he ever held was that of a treasurer or Auditor in Mobil Nigeria PLC under my friend and age group Mr. Paul Akinyelure from Idanre who is still alive and can testify to what I am stating in this write- up and what Mr. Seyi Law has eloquently articulated in his short interview on Tinubu.
You can write it down that the Gang-up against Tinubu, if it succeeds, may be the last straw that finally breaks up Nigeria.
Bola Ahmed Tinubu unlike Obafemi Awolowo once described himself as “Emilokan” of Nigerian Politics and he had been proved right.
He had managed to do something that Obafemi Awolowo could only dream despite his monumental capacity and preparation to be President of Nigeria.
Pa Awolowo never realized his ultimate ambition. He was stopped and betrayed by Olusegun Obasanjo who had also betrayed and stopped MKO who was actually elected but was not allowed to rule Nigeria for one day by IBB and his cohorts in the Military like David Mark who is again the Chairman of ADC today whose only mission is to take out Tinubu and his nascent Government.
The same Obasanjo had tried but had woefully failed to stop Bola Ahmed Tinubu despite all of his efforts.
If Obasanjo, at the pinnacle of his power, as the longest- serving Nigerian President for eleven years, could not derail BAT, who else can do it?
If both Sani Abacha – the maximum Dictator could not eliminate BAT and if President Buhari and Emefiele and Nasir El Rufai, Senate President Lawan and Adamu Abubakar as APC National Chairman could not stop BAT, we have to assume that Tinubu was destined and ordained by God to become what he became in Nigeria and no gang- up however, powerful can stop what God Almighty has ordained.
Desperate Atiku Abubakar, Goliath David Mark, Opportunist Peter Obi, hungry Rotimi Amaechi, ambitious and crafty and disgruntled Nasir El Rufai who wants to be in power for life and dubious traitor Rauf Aregbesola who became everything he had become in Politics by riding on the coattail of Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos are all in a Gang-up to remove from power because they love themselves more than they love Nigeria.
I can tell you they are all doomed to fail, if they continue on their wild goose chase to oblivion by trying to take out Eegun Mogaji Omo Iya Aje Abibatu Mogaji the powerful Iyaloja of Lagos “Afinju Adaba to njeun lawujo Asa”
I can tell you, they are all going to fail. Bola Ahmed Tinubu is by no means a perfect or flawless candidate.
That is not the crux of my submission today, but I am persuaded just like Seyi Law that Tinubu has a few things going for him that Nigerians must not forget.
He is not the unmitigated disaster that his political enemies who are even worse than him would want us to believe.
That is the point I am making with this article. You can take it or leave it.
If the gang-up against Tinubu succeeds, their shortlived success is going to come at a big price and at a huge loss to Nigeria.
It is going to be a Pyrric victory at best because the aftermath of their success is going to be a chain reaction the end of which nobody can accurately predict.
It could even lead to another civil war once it becomes clear to the 3 dominant tribes of Nigeria and the Minorities of the South/ South that the minority Fulani Oligarchy’s ultimate mission is to take over and to dominate and to enslave and to permanently annex the South.
If our current generation of Nigerians would not challenge such a development, you can be sure that the generation of our children and grandchildren would not condone or tolerate such a development.
I am neither a TB Joshua nor a Prophet Marcus Tibetan nor Idahosa nor a Nostradamus, the future of Nigeria is predictable, if we continue on our current trajectory where the Fulani Mercenaries from the West Africa Subregion have massively infiltrated the porous borders of Nigeria and they have all been allowed to come in without visas and majority of them have been allegedly granted Amnesty by President Buhari and his cohorts and some of them have been absorbed into the Nigerian Military as we speak.
The move is a recipe for disaster for Nigeria, if nothing is done to stop the drift to anarchy in a country crying for help but no one is listening.
I rest my case.
Dr. Wumi Akintide.
