The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists, yesterday, abducted six staff members of the Works Ministry at Wovi village along Damboa/Chibok road in Borno State.
The abductees were supervising the 45-kilometre road, before insurgents took them, along with three laterite and sand-carrying trucks and a Hilux vehicle into Sambisa Forest.
Confirming the incident yesterday, in Maiduguri, the Commissioner of Works, Yerima Saleh; said one of the supervising staff escaped unhurt.
He said that the police and other security agencies have been alerted to the abduction of supervisors and drivers.
He tasked the security personnel to rescue the abductees unhurt to complete the east fringe forest road.
“It is very pathetic to inform you that six of my staff, mostly truck drivers, were kidnapped near the village while on duty along the 45-kilometre road.
MEANWHILE, hoodlums, yesterday torched the Gubernatorial Campaign Office of a political opponent of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, Senator Barau Jibrin, representing Kano north senatorial district.
Some of the attackers were seen with local weapons heading towards the Senator’s office located along Maiduguri road in the metropolis.
An eyewitness, who spoke in confidence said, Police officers, have already foiled an attempt by hoodlums to set ablaze Senator Barau’s house along Ibrahim Dabo road also in the metropolis, in the early hours of Thursday.
The thugs also vandalised the new office of a faction of All Progressives Congress (APC) along Zoo road, where the chairman of the party, Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago was supposed to have an office.
