The ongoing conspiracy by President Bola Tinubu and his toadies to monorail Nigeria into a one party state may threaten Nigeria’s democracy and stability at the beginning but going forward, the project may provide the basis to galvanize the people for the long sought revolutionary change that will bring closure to oppression in Nigeria and liberate the people from poverty and want.
Even before the effort to railroad all of us to a one party nation, we must be apprehensive that Bola Tinubu does not have the acumen and consent of the people to imagine and implement such a maximalist agenda. He is likely to bungle the effort halfway and create chaos in Nigeria. He and most of his aides are such simpletons whose grasp of ideological concepts and the building blocks of the tectonic shift to totalitarianism are direly absent. The complex demands of building a totalitarian state are beyond our experience and understanding because we are essentially a pluralistic people. Bola Tinubu himself has no basic grasp of the mechanisms of human control nor can he be allowed to implement complex control and coercion operations.
So this raving ambition to make Nigeria a one party polity is striking both in its conception and the scale of its intended implementation across southern Nigeria under the leadership and direct supervision of Bola Tinubu aided by his mostly Yoruba acolytes.
From the Niger Delta to the Southeast, the Tinubu acolytes are fashioning out a grand plan state by state to reign everyone into the APC in order to counter the Norths plan to remove Tinubu from the presidency in 2027. Bola Tinubu assumes of course that everyone in the South loves him and would like him to stay as president beyond 2027. But that’s a grand illusion. Tinubu draws more hatred in Ilesha in Yoruba land than Hadejia in the core North. But he presumes, without the evidence, that his political interests and ambition coalesce into our collective aspirations in the South and so will want him to stay and fulfill those aspirations.
To sweeten the proposition for the Southeast, Nnamdi Kanu is to be released with a firm commitment to tone down the agitation for Biafra. The Southeastern and South-South states have been mobilized to empty all opposition parties in the regions into the APC to create a powerful bulwark against any possible challenge to APC and Tinubu’s rule. Most of the governors of the two regions are being mobilized to comply and to oversee the successful implementation of a one party rule. Delta state presents the challenging proposition of having a deeply unpopular and inept governor in a declining political party wanting to take power over more popular and accomplished candidates in the ruling party.
It will be difficult to imagine the unwieldy APC as a fascist party and Bola Tinubu as the Maximum leader who can impose his will on Nigeria where military leaders could not succeed to do so in the past. APC is a corrupt organization and it’s leader Bola Tinubu wears a criminal past as clothing. So the effort to build a one party nation may blow up in the face of its proponents and throw filth and discontent all over the country. And this may breed a violent response and resistance across the country.
So now there is an ongoing move to start the implementation of what appears to be the rudiments and design of a totalitarian polity by building a coalition to subsume all other political parties into the APC as one giant monolithic political organization in Southern Nigeria. The thinking that went into imagining this idea of a one party state is infuriating, the audacity to undertake the project, maddening. In its conception and planning, Tinubu and his co-conspirators go beyond insulting our sensibilities to assuming our docility and lack of capacity to challenge their ambitious idiocy.
A fascist party must of necessity translates to the rule of one man, in this case Bola Tinubu, with a pliant legislature and a deeply corrupt and disoriented judiciary to complete the picture of dissonant rule.
Bola Tinubu was handed the presidency in a pluralistic election and in a controlled and ordered transition. He thinks because he has been given the presidency in such controlled and ordered environment without violent confrontation for a stolen election, he can take that as acquiescence for impunity and undemocratic rule and then move ahead to implement and enforce a new order of his own design to serve nobody but himself. He thinks also that because he has succeeded in putting his tribesmen in positions of control in the security forces that his regime will sustain in a direct and forceful challenge to his rule. It will be delusional for him and his aides to think so and implant an unwanted change in our democratic order.
So the machination to implement a one party state in the South to serve his personal purpose is a clear invitation to trouble for himself. It is an attempt to wake the devil’s hidden or buried in the Nigerian history and polity. Bola Tinubu will have no capacity to contain those devils.
Our confidence will derive from the fact that what President Tinubu plans to do now to the Niger Delta, the East and some parts of the North, he cannot hope to do and succeed even in his own region, the South-West. He is organizing a hostile and violent political takeover of the regions, not minding the consequences or the possibilities for violence that it portends. And the politicians who hope to benefit from the travesty and abuse of power in their own regions are urging him on.
Tinubu is hoping to make up with Southern votes, what he stands to lose in the North. So he is planning a violent political takeover of the South-South region and the politicians of the region are left helpless or forced to join him in the abuse of their own people and region. But we do know that the plan, no matter how elaborate and well made, will come to naught as we await a third force to rise to the support and embrace of the masses to neutralize the deadly plan of President Tinubu. It will happen, just like the last time.
Bola Tinubu is showing the regions such utter disrespect, encouraged by renegades like Adams Oshionhole, Godswill Akpabio, Nyesom Wike and even Orji Kalu. Sheriff Oborevwori without political standing is begging to be let in. Tinubu will not dare to do elsewhere, particularly in Yoruba land or the North, what he’s doing today in the deep south and southeast, sacking the Rivers governor illegally and forcing others to come to him or else. He cannot implement the same smash and grab election unleashed on Edo State anywhere in Yoruba land. He could not forcefully take Osun state even as sitting President.
He will not dare the people of Osun or he would have had a political crisis far worse than “operation wetie” in his hands to consume him. Even in his claimed Lagos state, there is a groundswell of forces rising to counter his hegemony in 2027 by the indigenous peoples of Lagos.
Men will rise across the nation to challenge and confront Tinubu on his plans for self promotion and turning Nigeria into his own totalitarianism enclave.
Because he has taken control of the economic resource of the Niger Delta and has such low regard for its politicians who sucker up to him, Tinubu lost respect for the peoples of the Niger Delta who are represented by such yes men and groveling scum that do not deserve anyone’s respect. If our politicians demanded and deserved respect, Tinubu would have respect for the peoples of our region. Everyone can see Sheriff Oborevwori chasing Tinubu to everywhere in the world to endorse him as Delta state APC governorship candidate for the next election.
So Tinubu is planning to implement a scorched earth policy in the Niger Delta to seize political control of the region where votes won’t count but results announced, just as Wike made it happen for him in Rivers state in the 2023 presidential election.
Tinubu has already started taking steps to undermine and capture the people and territory of the Niger Delta by using the traitors among us, who pretend to be champions of our cause but are working with Tinubu’s government to undermine progress in our region. The worst traitor in this direction is without question Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the puffed up and numbskull hooligan whose nihilistic and atavistic role in destabilizing Rivers politics has wrought more destruction on the Niger Delta than any external force today. Godswill Akpabio, another minion of Tinubu has shown himself to be the most servile and pitiable president of the senate in the history of Nigeria, completely out of his depths on the job of a Senate president.
Though it worked to his favour and made him president, Bola Tinubu lost his respect for Niger Delta from that Rivers encounter. As he himself admitted later, Wike’s electoral heist couldn’t happen anywhere else in Nigeria and it changed the trajectory of the election for him and changed the course of history of Nigeria.
Tinubu was unpopular before 2023 and even more so today than he was in 2023. He has further taken deep actions that have aroused the anger and hatred of the peoples of Nigeria across the regions without exception.. His unrepentant tribalism and his economic predation of the Nigerian Delta for the benefit of the Yoruba. We have since discovered that the Coastal Road project was an excuse to first reward his accomplice Gabriel Chagouri and as well develop the corridors of the Yoruba coastline. Since his regime, there have been no big projects in any other areas of the country than in Yoruba land.
We will keenly await the activation of Tinubu’s master plan to implant a one party state in our region as he blackmails and railroads the governors of the Niger Delta into APC and makes the entire region his footstool. We believe however that he has no capacity to achieve that ambition. Our culture forbids the absence of freedom and liberty and our insistence on personal and group dignity forbids controlled lives and hidden enclosures. We will not be made to serve the whims and pleasures of one man.
This audacious move will invite a backlash, and it will be in the form of Peter Obi giving the people of the South a reason to band together against an unwanted force that wants to impose himself on their land and take their resources.
