Anytime IBB in his exaggerated public outings blame the shadowy Northern elite for not allowing him announce the winner of the 1993 presidential election, I get so worked up over the cowardice of a supposedly trained general of the Nigerian army who is supposed to be Imbued with courage and bravery.

So is IBB a good example of the Nigerian army officer who should as he himself once boasted: “dominate the environment”? The answer without embellishment, is a resounding no. He is a coward and a shame to the army.

IBB keeps making his confessions of weakness and cowardice while always gloating over his strength and bravery through the many political disruptions and coups he participated in. In the face of a cataclysmic decision to announce an election result, he was caught pissing in his own pants right under the public glare and blaming his incontinence and disgrace on a mythical Northern cabal.

IBB for all his grandstanding, was too self absorbed to allow the election of a popular candidate and as a result, threw the country into deadly tumult. He failed himself, the country and everyone who looked up to him. He keeps making these self deprecating confessions as a plea for forgiveness for being a weak general who lost his command and a far weaker leader who led his country to the abyss. In more dignified armies of the world, he would be court martialed for cowardice leading to loss of command and executed.

Now we ask:

Has he also asked for forgiveness for the equally significant theft of Nigeria’s wealth of US$12 billion (as computed by Dr. Pius Okigbo and the government appointed committee) earned from the windfall from the first Gulf War?

Has he also made apologies for the mass death of over 200 middle rank officers killed in a rigged air crash at Ejigbo?

What about the state murder of his bosom friend Mamman Vatsa, a general at the time of his execution, falsely accused of organizing a coup d’état and killed out of jealousy and fear.

And the suspected murder of his foster son …..

IBB could have taken the straight road of rectitude and trust but he prided in being called a dribbler, a “maradona”, and an “evil genius”. He saw to the death of his two best friends, Mamman Vatsa and Moshood Abiola. He stole the nation blind. He betrayed so many. He tried so hard to make a virtue of dubiety and evil. He is now gaslighting the Northern establishment he depended on for his ascension to power.

In the end what has he gained?

We saw him, a frail broken man, broken in more places than we can ever know.

He has so much money but he can’t eat the food he’d like.
He has a thousand shoes but can’t wear any shoes.
He can have a thousand women but can’t sleep with any woman.

So many, aw, so many.
