An aide to the impeached Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, Niniola Adegoke, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu informed supporters of the current Speaker, Mojisola Meranda, of what to do.
The aide, a special Assistant on Youths to Obasa, also alleged that the speaker no longer wants to remain in office.

In an interview with News Central, Adegoke alleged that Meranda was being controlled by certain individuals who were using her for their personal interests. He accused some members of the Lagos House of Assembly of attempting to exploit her position to embezzle public funds through questionable contracts.
According to Adegoke, Meranda had allowed herself to be manipulated by powerful figures who wanted to use her to siphon the state’s resources. He further suggested that once Meranda stepped down from office, a thorough investigation would expose the irregularities that occurred under her leadership.
“Meranda, she’s not even willing to be on that seat anymore. But there are some set of people that, you know, this thing is mind-game. Meranda subjected herself to those people and they manipulated her. And they see her willingness to be a conduit pipe so that they can mimic or siphon Lagos State House of Assembly funds through frivolous contracts,” Adegoke stated.
“I am telling you, after this woman moved out of that office, that within a few weeks that she spent in that office, there’s going to be a thorough investigation. You will see the amount of evil they have perpetrated against Lagos State.”
When asked whether his principal, Obasa, might also be implicated in any financial wrongdoing, Adegoke insisted that Obasa had nothing to hide and was open to scrutiny.
“Let them robe him in. He said they should come close, come to me and investigate me. I have proper documentation of all the transactions on behalf of the Lagos State House of Assembly,” he said.
Adegoke further claimed that President Bola Tinubu had issued specific instructions regarding the situation but that some of Meranda’s supporters were not being honest about it. He added that the majority of the Lagos State Governance Advisory Council (GAC) was in support of Obasa.
“Mr. President is the father to all. His position remains the same. He told them what to do, the GAC. This is a family affair. He told them what to do. And they are trying to be economical with the truth.”
“I can tell you something. The majority of the GAC, they are with Mr. Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa. Why minority who perpetrated this evil in conjunction with the person that sponsored it, they are on one side.”
According to him, the attempt to remove Obasa had failed.
“But you know what? What they did cannot fly. Since January 13th, what happened? Everything stands still. So that is to tell you where we are coming from and the kind of person Mudashiru Obasa is,” Adegoke said.
