President Bola Tinubu has made appointments to the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF).
In a statement by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngalale, Retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Hashimu Argungu has been appointed as the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, subject to Senate confirmation.
Argungu’s wealth of experience and expertise in law enforcement will guide the commission in its critical role of overseeing the police force, the statement said.
Meanwhile, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani has been appointed as the Secretary of the commission, while retired DIG Taiwo Lakanu will serve as a member.
Additional members will be appointed in the near future.
Furthermore, President Tinubu has appointed Mohammed Sheidu as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, effective immediately.
“The President expects absolute demonstration of integrity, diligence, and patriotic zeal in the discharge of these important functions for the overall wellbeing of the Nigeria Police and the nation,” the statement added.
