Miyetti Allah Breaks Silence On Plateau Killings
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has strongly condemned the recent wave of violence and bloodshed in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, expressing deep concern over the loss of many lives.
Alhaji Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, the National President of MACBAN, issued a statement in Abuja on Wednesday, denouncing the killings and calling for an end to the intolerance fueling the cycle of violence. He emphasized the need for intervention by both the Federal and Plateau Governments to halt the acts of barbarism.
Othman-Ngelzarma urged a collective condemnation of the violence, irrespective of religious or ethnic affiliation. He expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s directives to security agencies to apprehend the culprits and bring them to justice. The MACBAN president also appreciated the President’s directive for the distribution of relief materials to the victims.
In addition, Othman-Ngelzarma called on the Plateau Government to ensure that pastoralists are included among the beneficiaries of the relief materials. He emphasized the responsibility of leaders on all sides involved in the conflict to embrace peace, recognizing that the continuous spilling of innocent citizens’ blood only brings misery, not peace.
The statement highlighted the futility of violence, emphasizing that over the years, where violence prevailed, people gained nothing as either victors or losers. The call for an end to intolerance and a plea for peace reflects the commitment of Miyetti Allah to promote harmony and unity among different communities.
