Nigerians Express Outrage Over Vice President Shettima and State Governors’ Visit to Tinubu in Lagos Following Plateau Massacre (Photos)
In the aftermath of the devastating Plateau massacre, Vice President Kashim Shettima and a delegation of thirty-six state governors paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Tinubu at his Bourdillon residence in Lagos on December 26.
The visit comes in the wake of the burial of hundreds of bodies resulting from an attack by armed bandits across various local governments in Plateau State on Christmas Eve.
Among the governors in the delegation were Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dapo Abiodun, Biodun Oyebanji, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq representing Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, and Kwara states, respectively.
The presence of other governors such as Abba Kabir Yusuf, Hope Uzodimma, Yahaya Bello, Dauda Lawal, Umo Enoh, Dikko Radda, Sim Fubara, Diri, Bala Mohammed, and more has sparked public outrage.
The photos from the visit have triggered criticism from Nigerians who question the appropriateness of such a gathering amid the ongoing national tragedy. The online community expresses concern about the prioritization of political visits over addressing urgent matters, further emphasizing the need for swift and decisive action in the face of the recent atrocities in Plateau State

NWANNE DI na MBA wrote;Tinubu is supposed to be in Plateau state sympathising with the victims of the christmas eve massacre but the governors left their home state to visit a President that lacks empathy for the citizens.
EHIS MOORE wrote; I don’t even know what complex to call what you’re suffering. You left your governor who, rather than visit the affected communities to show empathy, visited Tinubu, alongside other unserious governors, to be looking for statements from PO… You are as unserious as your governor.
CHIDI TUNDE NDUMNEGO wrote; Their mumu Governor flew to Lagos with other Governors to pay ‘Christmas visit’ to Tinubu while Plateau is on fire but ther wahala is with folks telling them to defend themselves. Ok nau.
JANNIES wrote; These governors meets with the Inec-select president every week at least during their every Wednesday-Wednesday tonic meetings.
What is the visit to TINUBU in lagos again all about🤷♀️
This feferity like we call it then is beginning to be too much. What a shame!
COMMENT: This act of all involved in this shenanigan is not only insensitive but also shows what the lives of the Nigerians mean to these people, NOTHING. Can someone help make this make sense….🙄
When most Nigerians couldn’t celebrate Christmas due to poverty and hard times brought about by these people’s policies, they instead decided to waste the meager resources of their constituencies. Their action shows lack of emotional intelligence and the lack of care for those they took oaths to serve.
What was or is the purpose of their visit especially when the president is not a Christian, or was it the Christian first lady they went to felicitate with, or to visit the president for his hard work?
This show of shame or solidarity with the President is like the proverbial Emperor Nero playing the fiddle while Rome burned down to ashes. It shows no empathy at all on the part of the President, his VP and the Governors who did not consider the wrongful message their Jamboree to the President sends to the Plateau Christians in mourning and in total distress.
