A season of truths:
Followers of Mr. Bola Tinubu”…… you’re only doing your job and you’re working hard indeed, so I understand your overzealousness.
You said I’m creating a new agenda for Afenifere? How?? Has Afenifere not been in the vanguard of various battles against injustice in Nigeria over the years?
On the killings in Agatu, Southern Kaduna, Zamfara, etc, Afenifere is always among the first to condemn the killing of the innocent and call for justice while the likes of you would say the police should not arrest anyone as it is “two-fighting”.
Contrary to your narrow viewpoint, the fight for justice is not a “new agenda” for Afenifere. It has always been the ethos and major driving force of the organization. Our motto is “Abundant Life FOR ALL”. And one of the big codes of that is “Ẹnikan Kii Jẹ Kilẹ o fẹ”.
Yorubas, as a people, are not selfish and we hate anyone to be like that. Anyone who says all these to you guys today is, to you, an enemy driven by “inunibini” (hatred) or “envy of unimaginable proportions”.
You said Afenifere was not formed as a party. What a misguided statement! Afenifere was the Yoruba name for the Action Group when it was formed. “Egbe Afenifere” was the by-word by which the party and its ethos were advertised/popularised among the Yoruba populace.
It remains a party till this day but your own militarized understanding of Nigerian politics tells you a party must be registered by a registering authority who may say yes or no to your registration as a party. But the dictionary defines a party as “a group of persons with common political opinions and purposes organized for gaining political influence and governmental control and for directing government policy: e.g, the Republican Party; the Democratic Party.
You pointed out the issue between Awolowo and Zik. Yes they were eternal rivals but when Akintola aligned with the North against Awolowo and his party, have you forgotten that it was Michael Okpara and other Igbo he approached and formed a formidable political alliance (United Progressive Grand Alliance, UPGA) with??
Have you forgotten that Sam Goomsu (S.G) Ikoku, an Igbo, supported Awo so loyally and totally that he contested on Awo’s party platform against, and humiliated, his own father, Alvan Ikoku, in an election??
Have you forgotten that the same Ikoku, still Igbo, followed Awolowo to jail in the treasonable felony trial of 1963?? Have you forgotten also that another Igbo, Chief Phillip Umeadi, was Awolowo’s running mate in the 1979 presidential election?
Did you know that the National Organising Secretary of Awolowo’s Unity Party Party of Nigeria was Chief MCK Ajuluchukwu and the First National Vice President was Mama Oyibo Odinamadu??
All at a time when Igbo icon and national leader, Zik, was running against Awo in the elections but these guys remained solidly with Awo. And you guys would choose to conveniently forget all these and use a supposed offense of Zik against Awo to argue that the Igbo be not allowed or supported to be President in Nigeria??
You said Igbo did not vote Abiola. Must they?? Did Abiola not win in Anambra and did he not make a good showing in the other states? Did Igbo men Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Ndubuisi Kanu, Ralph Uwechue, Ralph Obioha and Ebitu Ukiwe not risk their all to fight for Abiola and June 12??
You forget all these and you think Igbo should be stopped from being president while your man is helped to get there.
You’re so angry, you’re almost cursing Afenifere and me but your anger is understandable. Some of us are not making any business in politics and I have no financial or political gain to make from any politician or political group. I no go Cuba or anywhere. Mine is purely a contribution based on the principles of truth, fairness, equity and justice. Whoever wins is not my business after that. I have no horse in this race.
I suffer no personal loss if Obi loses next year. Many Tinubu supporters cannot say that if their guy loses.” 😂😂😂.
