Few weeks ago, an essay written by Mrs Fayemi, LOUD WHISPER, was caused to be widely circulated on Social Media. The essay and author received a loud applause for such article. The decadence espoused in the essay is Nigeria albatross presently.
Let’s now put madam Fayemi, the author’s essay in the same perspective with a presently circulating video showing the same Mrs Fayemi, the first lady of Ekiti State, leading other state’s first ladies to Dubai (Hopefully, Dubai is not the correct location), to present a birthday cake to sai Buhari’s wife and also dance with her.
People have said that wives of governor and president also have a life to live and I agree
But, it is hypocrisy when you are living your life the way you want but you tell others how not to live.
The first paragraph of Mrs Fayemi essay goes as…. please stop!……I just saw a five-year old girl dancing at her birthday party on a thick carpet of dollars and naira. The remaining paragraphs of the essay are also hypocritical when compared to her action in the Aisha Buhari’s birthday video.
Imagine Mrs Fayemi, who I guess must have traveled to Dubai with her entourage sponsored with public funds to celebrate a birthday with Mrs Aisha Buhari, writing about a 5year old girl dancing on a carpet of dollars and naira notes owned by her parents and friends at her birthday party to please stop…….is that not ironic and hypocritical?
I have always posited and will continue to do so, that one of the seriuos problems we have in the country is leadership and not the followership. Every ‘big person’ in Nigeria is ‘above’ the law, which is the reason for impunity at all levels in our society.
Bottom-up approach will never solve Nigeria problem, rather the top-down approach is the way to go. In every aspect of the society, there is a leader, even in the family.
A leader must make his words his watchwords. He/she must be ready to live by and do what he/she says. And I can bet that when this happens, the masses will fall in line. After all it is the duty of the masses to follow, reason they are called followers
But when a leader and his wife say one thing but do the opposite and he or she expects the citizen to live by what he says not what he does, then the society becomes disorganized, living on the precipes of disaster.
In a new twist, a new spin, Nigeria Governors’ Wives Forum, NGWF, has described as untrue and scandalous, stories and videos, circulating on social media and some sections of the media, alleging that some governors’ wives left Nigeria for Dubai to attend a birthday party of Nigeria’s First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
The Governors’ wives forum expressed shock at the footage being shared on social media, saying selected wives of governors were on the entourage of the First Lady to woo individuals interested in investing in education and technology in Africa with “priority given to young people and women”.
Some sections of the media, not Vanguard, had reported how some wives of Nigerian governors had left Nigeria for Dubai, spotted with cakes and flowers at an event believed to be a birthday party of the First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
But, In a statement made available to Vanguard, the Governors Wives Forum denied that they went on a birthday trip but claimed that they were on a trip to woo investors in education and health, which coincided with the birthday of the First Lady and the delegation decided to paid a private visit to the wife of the president with flowers.
The GWs were even ‘dismayed’ at the ‘scandalous’ video making rounds on social media, hear them,
“The trip included visits to Dubai Expo 2020, tours of the Dubai e-learning centre, Dubai YouthHub and meetings with foundations and agencies in UAE who are interested in investing in education, health and technology in Africa, with priority given to women and young people.”
“The trip coincided with the birthday of HE Aisha Buhari. On the morning of her birthday, which was February 17th, the delegation of Governors’ Wives paid a private visit to present a cake and flowers.
“After the brief presentation, we proceeded to attend the scheduled meetings for the day.
“We were therefore dismayed to see footage of the visit interpreted to mean Governors’ Wives left Nigeria for the sole purpose of celebrating his birthday.
“This is not true and we find this assumption scandalous.
“We are all dedicated to supporting our spouses as well as our First Lady, and we would never be a party to anything that will bring embarrassment to them and ourselves.
“Our key learnings from our visit to the various agencies in Dubai and the briefings we received point to the need for Nigeria to scale up investments in education, science and technology and provide more opportunities for young people, who are the key to the future.
“We will continue to address these issues in our own work as well as advocate for increased commitments in these areas from our leaders.” The statement read.
So Mrs. Lady Fayemi said they needed 30 of them to go to Dubai to meet agencies interested in investing in education? What do we know? Does this make sense? It was an unnecessary jamboree, and wasteful.
If you believe their statement, then my mother was a virgin. 😁 Shikenna!
