Europe lives in dangerous denial on Ukraine as it balks on applying the more devastating and economy crippling sanctions against Russia, an implacable aggressor determined to tear down a free and independent Ukraine.
The hypocrisy of the leading countries in the EU is galling. Ukraine is being destroyed before the eyes of the world in slow motion and it’s real, not a Hollywood movie.
Kyiv is undergoing a systemic destruction from Russian artillery, bombings, missiles and mortars. Lives are being lost, populations are being displaced just because of the territorial ambitions of a wicked oligarchy in Moscow led by Vladimir Putin.
Germany, France, Italy and some other smaller countries have determinedly and adamantly objected to removing Russia from the Swift international money transfer system which can have an immediate devastating impact on the economy of Russia and persuade Putin to stop the bombardment of Ukraine.
Banning Russia from Swift transactions immediately blocks Russian financial transfers and exchanges with the rest of the world and make Russia a pariah state unable to deal beyond and even within it’s own borders.
The British in the true and principled traditions of their forebear Winston Churchill, stands up to another bully, this time not Adolf Hitler but Vladimir Putin of Russia, the land that bore the brunt of authoritarianism in another era. Boris Johnson, British Prime Minister has rolled out a crippling range of sanctions against the coward Putin, his friends and the Russian economy, not minding the cost to the British people. Policies of appeasement, the British know, only go to encourage the bully.
Russia is a neighborhood bully. But it is a bully with the second largest armed forces in the world and an intimidating array of nuclear weapons. The British know this, just as the rest of the world know it. The British have taken a principled stand as it did in every historical challenge, particularly against Nazi Germany and the feared Wehrmacht. The British know from experience in courage that the only way to overcome a bully is to stand up to him.
The entire Western world and NATO members were quick to ban Iran from Swift transactions without hesitation or dissension from any country and this led to a 30% collapse of the Iranian economy from which it is yet to recover. Why is it so difficult to do the same now against Russia which has trampled on and violated every international law that holds the world together. Is it because Russia is of the Caucasian race or because it has nuclear weapons? Is might right after all? Ah, the hypocrisy.
The French as usual, are ready and willing to escort Russian troops through the beautiful shaded streets of Paris as did the Vichy Government for Nazi German army in 1940.
The Germans, not able to overcome the guilt complex arising from the second world war, do not want to offend Putin and the Russians and are in a frenzy of appeasement of Russia. They donated boots to the Ukrainian army. But as history teaches us, the aggressor can never be appeased and Russia will always blackmail Germany with the facts of the 20 million of its people killed by the Nazi army in the 2nd world war.
The hypocrisy of the Caucasian race is legendary when it comes to racial interests. But appeasement will always be self defeatist and will not advance the survival of the white race.
Recall that President Harry Truman Wouldn’t give consent for the bomb to be let fall on German soil when the Manhattan Project rounded up the making of the atomic bomb but gleefully gave consent that it be dropped in Hiroshima Japan, an Asian and non-Caucasian population.
So the world waits on Europe to do what’s demanded to make Putin fall and allow Ukraine to be. As the Nobel winning Nigerian poet Wole Soyinka has said and dentists affirm: “you must remove the carrion tooth to save the entire mouth”. Europe must endure the hurt and the pain of imposing impactful sanctions and remove the carrion Vladimir Putin to save their motherland.
It took 60 million lives to save Europe from Adolf Hitler. How many million lives will it take to save it from Vladimir Putin? When the German war machine ran over Poland on September 3 1939, no one knew it would spread all over Europe and require the blood of millions to appease it. What will it cost Europe to appease the Russian army now in Ukraine?
