Mr Igboho was seeking N500 billion damages for the invasion of his home.
An Oyo State High Court has ordered the State Security Service to pay N20 billion to Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, over the alleged invasion of his home in Ibadan.
Justice Ladiran Akintola ruled that the money was awarded as exemplary and aggravated damages against the SSS in the suit filed by Mr Igboho, in which he was seeking N500 billion damages for the invasion.
It should be recalled that the Nigerian secret police attacked Mr Igboho’s house, terrorized him and the residents of the house in the Soka area of the city during a night of terror hours of July 1. At least two persons were killed in the invasion.
The judgement is another confirmation to supporters of the unlawful actions of the SSS on the eventful night, that what the outfit did to Mr. Igboho and his people were wrong and should never be condoned by Nigerians.
On this premise, it is safe to say that the courts in Benin where the federal government of Nigeria’s case against Mr. Igboho’s is being held has become moot. I am not a lawyer and do not claim to know the legalities of the case, however, from a layman’s, (which I am) point of view, common sense tells me that, if an illegality was committed against a person, who has the human rights to speech, to association, to safety in his residence of abode, a government, where there is law and order, cannot then charge that person for a crime that they purported, he committed.
We must remember that Mr. Igboho was never formerly invited for interviews by the security agency(ies) to which he refused, no reminders, invitations that people know of, it was indeed a hatchet job against a man who was only fighting in defence of his people who were being killed by Fulani terrorists to which the federal government of Mr. Buhari seemed to be tacitly supporting due to their actions and inactions in bringing these blood sucking, blood letting half human Barbarians to justice.
By the judgement of justice Ladiran Akintola, the court has spoken, the raid was illegal, Igboho has no case to answer because it is crystal clear that, the SSS men were on a mission to take Mr. Igboho dead or alive on the fateful day, during which at least two of his associates were murdered.
The Benin Republic should release Sunday Adeyemo Igboho without further delay.
I rest.
