Top Boko Haram commanders have reportedly surrendered to troops in Operation Hadin Kai.
Army Spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu said Chief Bomb Expert of the terrorists group known as Musa Adamu a.k.a Mala Musa Abuja and his second in command Usman Adamu a.k.a Abu Darda were among those that surrendered.
They were received by Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Brigadier General Abdulwahab Adelokun Eyitayo at Headquarters 21 Special Armoured Brigade Bama on Saturday, 7 August, 2021.
General Eyitayo who spoke through an interpreter, further disclosed that the terrorists who surrendered will undergo some rehabilitation process at a Government facility before reintegration into the larger society.
In photos shared by the army spokesperson, the insurgents who surrendered were seen holding up placards which read, “Nigerians, please forgive us”.
The statement read;
“Following the recent escalation of offensive operations coupled with non kinetic efforts by troops of operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) which yielded massive surrendering of Boko Haram and Islamic State of West Africa Province Terrorists in the North East, the Chief Bomb Expert of the terrorists group known as Musa Adamu a.k.a Mala Musa Abuja and his second in command Usman Adamu a.k.a Abu Darda along with their families and followers have also finally surrendered to the troops of operation HADIN KAI in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
“The acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 OPHK Brigadier General Abdulwahab Adelokun Eyitayo was at Headquarters 21 Special Armoured Brigade Bama on Saturday, 7 August, 2021 to receive the set of the surrendered Boko Haram terrorists and their families.
“During the visit, the GOC said their decision to drop their arms and come out is highly commendable, adding that they should also try and talk to their brothers and colleagues in the forest to come out and embrace the new life of peace and rehabilitation. General Eyitayo who spoke through an interpreter further disclosed that they will undergo some rehabilitation process at a Government facility before reintegration into the larger society.
“While distributing new cloths and assorted food items, groceries and toiletries to the surrendered terrorists and their families totalling 335 fighters, 746 adult women and children including one of the abducted Chibok girls, it was observed that the reasons for such massive turn was basically due to the intensified Nigerian military campaign on their enclaves and environs and also with the overwhelming famine, discontent, internal skirmishes, health challenges as well as untold hardship.
“The Nigerian military has resolved to intensify its both kinetic and non-kinentic approach towards the ongoing fight against insurgency in order to leverage on the knowledge of Musa Adamu and Usman Adamu and also with the current wave of turnout by terrorists to enable her achieve both short and long term counter-insurgency gains in the North East.”

Imagine this happened and nigerian govt with some ground standing want to give pardon
How do we expect the victims if Boko Haram terrorism and their family members to have a closure when this kind of injustice prevail?
How do the country want to reduce, discourage or eliminate criminal activities when you grant pardons to terrorists, bandits with NO CAUSE with fanfare?
It is ironic and sad when we blame the many woes of the country on masses as in “people deserves their leaders”…..but we turn around to applaud a govt that pardon people of NO KNOWN CAUSE who kill, destroy, and maim for unjust reasons…
When terrorists are given soft landing like this with a public show of fun fare, then it shows lack of values in system…..
These people had killed the innocent heartlessly; and for what reason?….because western education is forbidden to them?
A lot of chibok girls are still missing, Leah saribu’s mother is still hoping her daughter will walk through the door…
This is an injustice to people who have been killed by these terrorist/savages…. innocent people whose sun was dimmed prematurely….. innocents who had a future, but now a mirage
These bloodletting savages, half human beings have killed many innocent people for no cause, so the government acquiescing to pardoning them is injustice to the tens of thousands of lost souls whose blood is draping the land.
These people should have their day in court to discourage other people who might want to think and act join terrorist organizations and like Boko Haram in future.
And think of it, story abounds that many of these BK operatives who had been pardoned in the past have succeeded in becoming secret agents, moles in our military, gathering information for their terrorist organization, which were used against the Nigerian military, resulting many times in the deaths of our soldiers and in the brutal attacks against, and the decimation of many communities. These same criminals have been well documented to eventual reunite with Boko Haram.
These lunatics, I am sure they did not even come to surrender; they must have been captured at the battle field.
The posts actually says that the surrendered BH terrorists were received by GOC of the NGR army (NA)!
Then, they will to be processed for reintegration into the society. “ORO RIRUN – disgusting words)
The pictures (supplied by the NA according to the writer) actually look like drama to me, …no wonder the Nigerian Army choose to be using the word “*theater * commanders”. The Nigerian Army are simply doing theater/acting.
How in the world will Boko Haram terrorists be dressed this casually and be carrying placards?

The Nigerian army just told Nigerians that Boko Haram terrorist organization is a BROTHERHOOD and that terrorism is A JOB, Yes you heard right. Going by the GOC’s statement, Nigerians should UNDERSTAND why these killer thugs should be pardoned, isn’t it? I laf like Fela….what a country, what a Government!
If Nigerians are to use the general Eyitayo’s yardstick in embracing known terrorists because it is now a profession, then, every prison in the country should open it’s gates to all prisoners and set them free, rehabilitate them, and reintegrate them into the larger society.
The minimum punishment for these terrorists should be 30 years minimum in a maximum security prison with hard labor. They should be subjected to interrogations to give up others and not simply forgiveness by default. A deal of reduced sentence can be reached with a terror suspect that gives information that leads to the capture and conviction of a certain number of terrorists, for example 10.
