Benin Republic Government and the InterPol are currently refusing to handover Adeyemo Sunday to the Nigerian government. Igboho’s lawyers were fast enough to draw the attention of the Benin Republic Government over the life threatening attack carried by the NIGERIAN DSS on Sunday Igboho’s residency on July 1, 2021 and the fabricated charges against Igboho by the Nigerian Government.
According to a United States based lawyer offering his services to Igboho, his arrest in Benin Republic is illegal and that plans are underway to fight against his repatriation to Nigeria. He said that;
“Sunday Adeyemo can only be returned to Nigeria if and only if he is found to have broken any law in Benin Republic. Sunday Igboho as we know did not break any law in Benin. He was arrested under false alarm raised by the NIGERIAN Government. We are on top of the situation right now. We have successfully notified the British government on the dangers of letting Sunday Adeyemo return to Nigeria where his life is at risk. We believe that before the end of today, BRITAIN would have granted his request for asylum in good faith.”

Do you know that legally and under the international humanitarian law, Sunday Igboho can claim asylum in Benin Republic? He can argue under article 3 human rights law that if he were to be returned to Nigeria, he would be subjected to torture and inhuman degradation.
Do you know that the former Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai is the Nigerian Ambassador to Benin Republic. Now it’s becoming clearer that his appointment is very strategic, possibly to frustrate Yoruba nation agitation for fairness, justice and equity, not to use Benin Republic as an escape route for freedom fighters fleeing from persecution and possibly death from a desperate, like a bull in the china shop desperate government, who will stop at nothing to hold on to power, to continue their oppression of other ethnic groups in the country, even when it is clear that such is illegal.
