“They are there making laws for a people and the people are not being consulted, ask the governors, where any of the Fulani consulted? How come 13 governors of the South met in a hotel to sit and talk without consulting any Fulani leaders?
“You must sit down and talk to the people you are making laws for. None of the southern governors has sat down to discuss with the Fulani leaders and tell them what they are trying to do.” He said, “was any of the Fulani leaders consulted, was any of the Fulani leaders consulted? Twice, he asked. They are now making laws for people they have not consulted”.
The above was the response of a former Director-General of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Usman Yusuf on AIT News, on Wednesday, May 21, 2021, when he challenged the governors from Southern Nigeria who met in Asaba for coming out with their resolutions to ban open grazing in their respective states.

When one listens to these people that have at one time or the other been leaders and decision makers in government in Nigeria, it is not far fetched why Nigeria is the doldrums and on the precipice of disintegration. What this shows is that many of the past and present leaders of Nigeria are lunatics, bigots, careless ethnic mongers, half-baked educated minds, and straight up mindless and entitled ‘animals in human skin’, apologies to the great Fela.
Listening to what Professor Usman Lawal’s stupid comments on TV, one can conclude without much ado that he belongs to this group of delusional Nigerian leaders.
If Lawal can answer the questions below, may be, just may be he will prove to millions of Nigerians that he is not delusional.
- Did the North consult Nigerians before writing the 1999 constitution?
- Did the northern states governors that adopted sharia law consult muslims from the south?
- Did the northern state governors consult the Igbos before formulating the Hisbah law that prohibits sales and distribution of alcohol in some northern states?
Until Usman Lawal and his ilk can satisfactorily answer the above questions, Nigerans are going to regard his comments and such from his likes as those of mindless nutcases.
The arrogance, the sense of ownership and entitlement of these Fulani elites and their utterances and body language are not just disrespectful, demeaning and annoying, they are highly provocative. The time is ripe, and the time is now for other ethnic groups in Nigeria to let the Fulanis know that they are not superior to any other tribe in the country, that their time of oppressing other regions is over, and they do not own Nigeria, that they are immigrants and the land owners can do whatever they want with their land.
Yes, the Fulanis are Nigerians but they must be ready to live in peace with other tribes and must stop lording themselves over others in a secular state that Nigeria is.
The time has come for the southwest leadership in the legislature to start fighting for equity and justice for the people they represent.
A new free and fair census must be organized, one that represents the correct population of every region that make up the Nation Nigeria.
A new Nigerian constitution must be re-written, one that every ethnic nationality will take part in and contribute to and agree on.
THE TIME TO RESTRUCTURE NIGERIA IS NOW!!!
…FAILING WHICH EVERY NATION THAT WANTS TO LEAVE THE UNION MUST BE ALLOWED TO DO SO!
May GOD bless Nigeria.
