Bola Tinubu shakes up is cabinet, orders Handover of Finance and Housing Ministries
The minor reshuffle in the Federal Executive Council, directs changes in key ministries including Finance and Housing.

A small cabinet change in the Federal Executive Council’s membership has been authorized by President Bola Tinubu.
Wale Edun and Ahmed Dangiwa, two cabinet members, are to step down while their replacements are found, according to a document signed by Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

Up to the most recent event, Edun served as both the coordinating minister for the economy and the minister of finance.
He has been instructed to turn over to Taiwo Oyedele, who will now assume the role of coordinating minister of the economy and minister of finance. Oyedele used to serve in the government as a minister of state.
Additionally, Muttaqha Rabe Darma has been appointed as the Housing and Urban Development Ministry’s ministerial candidate and minister designate.
Additionally, Dangiwa was instructed in the memo to turn over the ministry to the minister of state.
According to the memo, all handover and takeover procedures must be finished by Thursday, April 23, 2026, at the latest.
“These changes are aimed at strengthening cohesion, synergy in governance as well as achieving more impactful delivery on the economy to Nigerians, through the Renewed Hope Agenda,” Akume stated in an explanation of the president’s choice.
He said that by authorizing the cabinet reorganization, the president had fully used the authority granted to him by Sections 147 and 148 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria’s Constitution (1999, as amended).
The president wished the departing ministers the best of luck in all of their future pursuits and thanked them for their services to the country.
According to Akume, the president also gave all cabinet members assurances that the reinvigoration process will continue.
