Falz Denies Involvement In Bobrisky’s Legal Troubles, Demands Apology And Retraction.
Popular Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has issued a statement denying allegations of involvement in the legal troubles of controversial social media personality, Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky.
According to Falz’s legal team, Falz & Falana Chambers, the rapper had initially received a call from Bobrisky seeking legal advice, but declined to provide financial assistance when asked for N3 million to secure a VIP section at the Correctional Centre.
In a letter dated September 26, 2024, Falz’s lawyer, Taiwo E. Olawanle, outlined the events leading up to Bobrisky’s legal troubles. The letter revealed that Bobrisky had contacted Falz on May 4, 2024, requesting a phone conversation.
However, instead of seeking legal advice, Bobrisky requested financial assistance to pay officials to stay in the VIP section of the Correctional Centre. Falz allegedly advised Bobrisky that there was no need to pay officials and that his lawyers had messed up his case by asking him to plead guilty to the charges filed against him.
Falz’s legal team has demanded an immediate retraction of defamatory statements made by Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, which suggested that Falz had conspired with Bobrisky to pervert the course of justice.
The letter also warned that failure to comply with the demands would result in legal action, including a claim for monetary damages for the harm caused to Falz’s reputation.
The controversy began when Bobrisky made a viral video alleging that unnamed EFCC officers collected N15 million from him to drop money laundering charges. However, Bobrisky has denied the bribery allegations, and the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, has ordered an immediate investigation into the matter.
Falz’s legal team has demanded a public apology and retraction of the defamatory statements across all platforms where they were disseminated. The case has sparked heated debate on social media, with many calling for an end to the spread of false information and allegations.
