The First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has elicited reactions with her remark on the situation of things in the country.
At the Interdenominational Church service marking Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary, Remi said her husband is not a magician.
The former senator also claimed her husband inherited a bad economy, adding that he is working tirelessly to fix the situation.
FCT, Abuja – Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has said President Bola Tinubu is focused on fixing the country’s problems.
She, however, said her husband should not be seen as a magician.
With many Nigerians struggling with the hike in fuel prices, a sharp devaluation of the naira, and inflation now at 25 percent, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy, the organized labor had called an indefinite strike slated for Tuesday, October 3.
The organized labour claimed the government has so far failed to address their concerns.
But speaking at the church service at the National Christian Centre on Sunday, October 1 to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence, Remi said her husband’s government inherited a lot of challenges.
Remi also clarified that her comment was not to blame past governments for the country’s current challenges, Channels TV reported.
“We are not here to put blame on any administration but to fix what has been damaged,” she said.
The first lady, who was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, said the visit was to check on the ex-president and thank him for his fatherly support.
Remi also prayed for long life, good health and more support from him not only for the administration of President Tinubu but for Nigeria as a whole.
In an earlier report, the first lady said her family does not need Nigeria’s wealth to survive. According to Oluremi, she and her husband need the grace of God to govern.
She also said they needed prayers from the Nigerian people as she reiterated that Tinubu’s government will do the right thing.
