The advisory is a direct response to the growing industry of visa consultants who claim special access or influence over visa approvals.
THE WARNING
In a public advisory, the mission strongly cautioned Nigerian applicants against relying on third-party middlemen or “visa consultants” who claim to have special access, fast-track slots, or guaranteed approvals.
The embassy stressed that all official information and application procedures for tourism, study, employment, and family visas are completely free and accessible to the public.
“Beware of misinformation. Save yourself the hassle & just ask us directly,” the embassy said.

It also asked Nigerians to share some of the claims they had heard from “visa agents” in the comments, saying it would address them in upcoming posts .
The German mission made its position on visa agents clear:
“We DO NOT WORK with any ‘Visa Agents’!”.
THE CONTEXT
The warning comes as many Nigerians seeking to travel to Germany rely on third parties for assistance with visa applications, including tourism, study, employment and family reunification .
Some agents charge significant fees for services that applicants could access themselves for free. Others make promises they cannot keep, leaving applicants out of pocket and without a visa.
THE OFFICIAL PROCESS
According to the German Missions in Nigeria, applicants must book an appointment in advance, and booking is free of charge. The Consulate does not encourage bookings made through agencies or any other third party charging a fee .

Every applicant must appear in person for their appointment, submit all required documents, and have their fingerprints taken .The visa fee is 75 euros, payable at the current exchange rate in naira.
WHY IT MATTERS
The warning is a necessary intervention in a market where desperation and misinformation often intersect.
Nigerians seeking opportunities abroad are vulnerable to exploitation by unscrupulous agents who promise what they cannot deliver
