Osun Poll: ‘No Victor, No Vanquished,’ Adeleke Extends Olive Branch To Co-Contestants

Adeleke of the Accord Party defeated his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to clinch a second term in office as the governor of the South-West State. 

Governor Ademola Adeleke has extended the olive branch to his opponents in the Osun governorship election, asking them to work with his administration for the good of the people.

Adeleke spoke during his address to the people of Osun State, hours after he was declared the winner of the August 15 governorship election.

“Osun State is on the march again. We shall expand development and widen the net of good governance. In this race, there is no victor and no vanquished. I extend my olive branch to my co-contestants,” he said during the address on Sunday in Osogbo.

“I am the governor of all Osun people. My vision is to take Osun from a civil service state to an industrial state and an investment destination. Congratulations to Osun people and to all supporters of good governance.”

Adeleke of the Accord Party defeated his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to clinch a second term in office as the governor of the South-West State.

According to the Returning Officer for the election, Joshua Ogunwole, who declared the results at the INEC Collation Centre in Osogbo, the incumbent polled 511,067 votes to pick up a return ticket for another four years.

APC’s Oyebamiji had a total vote count of 444,815, while Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came a distant third with 17,180 votes.

“For that, Adeleke Ademola Jackson of the Accord Party, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is hereby returned elected,” Ogunwole said while announcing the final results.

For the Osun governor, the victory has “deepened” his faith in democracy as he paid tribute to those who supported his bid for another term in office.

“To all lovers of democracy, I thank you for supporting our struggle. From home and abroad, the support is overwhelming. My faith in democracy is deepened,” the governor said.

“Most importantly, I thank the media for standing by me—by us. The constant coverage in support of democracy emboldened us, and we are grateful.”

Adeleke was first elected as the governor of Osun State in 2022 under the umbrella of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). However, he left the platform in December 2025 as he pushed for a return ticket to the Bola Ige House in Osogbo.
