The immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday appeared before two separate courts in Kaduna over allegations bordering on abuse of office, money laundering and corruption, with both matters adjourned for further proceedings.

At the Federal High Court, El-Rufai was arraigned alongside his former Special Adviser, Jimi Lawal, and five corporate entities on an amended 11-count charge.
While El-Rufai pleaded not guilty to Count One of the charge, Lawal pleaded not guilty to Counts Six, Seven and Eight. One of the corporate defendants, Singularity Network Security Limited, was arraigned on Counts Two, Three, Four, Five, Nine, 10 and 11.
The prosecution listed El-Rufai, Lawal and the five corporate entities as defendants in the matter, alleging various offences connected with abuse of office and financial impropriety.
When the case came up before Justice Hauwa’u Buhari, counsel to El-Rufai and Lawal informed the court that separate bail applications had been filed on behalf of their clients.
