The national leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), under Nafiu Bala Gombe, has distanced the party from the recent National Summit of Opposition Political Parties held in Ibadan, declaring it had no involvement in the gathering.

In a statement issued by its Director of Media and Public Affairs, Christopher Okechukwu, the party described the summit as a congregation of individuals driven by personal political ambitions, insisting they do not represent the ADC.
“The duly constituted leadership of the ADC categorically disassociates itself from the so-called opposition summit in Ibadan,” the statement said.
The party accused participants of misrepresenting themselves as members of the ADC, noting that many were former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) acting under a false identity.
It further alleged that the individuals had previously violated a subsisting Court of Appeal judgment by conducting unauthorised congresses and a national convention.
Reaffirming its commitment to the rule of law, the ADC said it is awaiting a pending judgment of the Supreme Court expected soon.
The party also assured its members and supporters nationwide of its full participation in the 2027 general elections.
“We will field credible candidates for all elective positions across the country, in line with our constitutional mandate and democratic principles,” the statement added.
