THE Chairman, Senate Committee on Electoral Matters, Senator Simon Lalong, APC, Plateau South, has condemned in very strong terms the gruesome and barbaric attack on innocent citizens in Rukuba village of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

In a statement he signed on Monday, the former Plateau State Governor who called for swift justice over the ugly incident, described it as a heinous and cowardly act that has no place in a civilised society, stressing that the deliberate targeting of innocent and law-abiding citizens is not only condemnable, but also a direct assault on peace, unity, and the sanctity of human life.
Senator Lalong expressed deep outrage and condemnation over the sad event and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, the people of Rukuba, and all those affected by this tragic incident, as he prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and for quick recovery of those injured.
While expressing sympathy, Senator Lalong called on the Plateau State Government and security agencies to act swiftly and decisively to apprehend the perpetrators of this dastardly act. He stressed that those responsible must be brought to justice without delay to serve as a deterrent to others.
He further urged the Federal Government and security operatives to intensify surveillance and intelligence gathering in vulnerable communities across Plateau State, particularly in Jos North, to forestall further attacks.
Senator Lalong also appealed to residents to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding while cooperating with security agencies by providing useful information that can aid investigations and prevent future occurrences.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working with all relevant stakeholders to promote peace, security, and harmonious coexistence in Plateau State and the nation at large.
