Solutions to two evil narratives confronting Nigeria Today- FFK

There are two evil narratives that we are confronted with in Nigeria today.

The first is to say that Christians are not being subjected to genocide by Islamist terrorists in our country and the second is to say that Muslims are not being subjected to the same genocide by the same Islamist terrorists as well.

The solution is not to deny these realities but rather to rise to the occasion, condemn them and demand that our Government defend protect both Christian and Muslim alike.

The American narrative that only Christians are being killed is false and no matter how often we send a powerful delegation of Federal Government officials to speak with an antagonistic, insincere and misinformed Congressman called @RileyMoore (who incidentally is a Freshman in Congress) it will not change their disposition or attitude towards us.

When you listen to the insolent and condescending ‘macho tone’ of his “Trump means what he says” press release you will appreciate this.

Worse of all the fact that Muslims are being killed too does not seem to bother him and he did not even mention it.

To him Muslim lives do not matter and I question the notion that, despite all his noise, Christian lives matter to him either.

Simply put the Americans do not wish us well and they seek to divide us on religious and ethnic lines.

Despite that there are a few of them that talk sense like Congresswoman Sara Jacobs who, during the public hearing on Nigeria that was held by the relevant commitee in the American House of Representatives on November 20th
said,

“There is a very real conflict and violence that we need to address. The violence impacting BOTH Christian and Muslim communities is real. The victims in the Kebbi State kidnapping were all Muslim girls. So, violence affects everyone. And FALSE NARRATIVES perpetuate harmful stereotypes. President Trump’s threat is reckless. Any unilateral military action in Nigeria would be illegal!”

Another Congresswoman who was a participant of the same public hearing by the name of @RepJayapal
Pramila Jayapal spoke equal sense when she said,

“The devastating levels of violence in Nigeria are clear but I appreciate that people have recognised that it’s NOT just persecution of Christians. This is persecution of MULTIPLE GROUPS and I think we have to be careful NOT to portray it as just persecution of Christians. That feels to me SIMPLISTIC, and it doesn’t account for intersection of diversity of Nigeria. Certainly religion is a contributing factor to the violence.”

Both of these members of the American Congress have spoken the bitter truth and they bring hope to an otherwise hopeless situation.

Congressman Jonathan Jackson leant his voice to truth as well and went a step further by warning against American adventurism and military intervention in our country when he spoke the following words during the same public hearing. He said,

“I wholeheartedly denounce the deployment of American troops to Nigeria. I call it a dangerous overreach that risks reigniting colonial imperialist intervention on African soil. We cannot allow the sudden interest in Nigeria internal political affair to be a pretext for military action when the same impulse was absent in the Sudan or DRC. As a New York Times @nytimes report says, Trump’s aid cuts have killed more Christians than any jihadist organization. You don’t stabilize Africa with missiles. You stabilize it with schools, clean water, economic opportunities and true partnership. The path to peace in Nigeria must come through dialogue, development and dignity. America should be a partner in healing not a hammer looking for a nail.”

These three members of the American Congress provide a voice of sanity in a sea of madness. Let us hope that Donald Trump and his horde of ignorant MAGA fanatics are listening .

Permit me to share one example of such fanaticism and ignorance.

Congressman @RepFine, who is a Jew & an AIPAC-funded Zionist, reflected the Islamaphobic sentiments of the racist & asinine wing of the Republican members on the Commitee when, during his contribution to the discussion, said,

“Muslims screaming Allahu Akbar genocided Jews on October 7, 2023. Muslims screaming Allahu Akbar genocided the Druze in Syria on April 28, 2025. Muslims screaming Allahu Akbar are genociding Christians in Nigeria right now. How many more religions are we going to allow Muslims to kill while screaming Allahu Akbar before we do something about it?”

He forgot to ask when the world will do something about the genocide that the Jewish State of Israel, backed, armed and funded by his America, has unleashed on Gaza and the Palestinians who are both Christian & Muslim.

I ask myself, how can a nation that is presently led by a group of Muslim-hating Islamaphobes assist a nation whose population is 50% Muslim like ours.

The only Muslims that Trump and his ilk like or respect are the super rich ones whom they can profit from & do business deals with.

On his part another MAGA Republican Congressman, Rep. Bill Huizenga said,

“Do we see Christians killing of Muslims in Christian dominated areas of Nigeria the way we are seeing radicalised Muslims killing Christians in Muslim areas of Nigeria? I went to school with kids from Nigeria, I have got neighbours who were missionaries there, who have families there, who have neighbours there, who knows this is going on. Not just mass media, we have people in the Congress denying that this is happening. Or deemphasising it, it is is outrageous that Christians, moderate Muslims anyone being terrorised by these radical Muslims & we got the Tinubu government sitting back & not doing enough. I don’t understand why a delegation will come to the United States to downplay this and give excuses, it should be rejected & called out for what it is.”

What we are faced with in Nigeria is not Christian genocide alone but genocide against BOTH Christians and Muslims and mass murder, ethnic cleansing and terror against 230 million innocent and defenceless Nigerian citizens who need protection from the Islamist terrorists by our Federal Government and our Armed Forces.

We also need as much genuine support from our international friends, partners and allies, including the Americans, as possible.

Like many in MAGA I am a proud Evangelical Christian, I care about the shedding of Christian blood as much as any other Christian and my heart bleeds each time our precious blood is shed but unlike some I care about the shedding of Muslim blood, which is equally precious, as well and in equal measure. Decency, compassion and humanity demands no less.

We are Nigerians before being Christian or Muslim, and any foreigner that tells me that he is only concerned about the shedding of the blood of Christians and nothing else cannot be a true friend of Nigeria and cannot be sincere.

To the young American Congressman called @RepRileyMoore I say the following.

If you are sincere I urge you to show love and concern for ALL our people and not just members of our Christian community.

I also urge you to tell @realDonaldTrump to direct your @CIA to stop funding and supporting terror groups like Boko Haram, ISWAP, Al Qaeda, Ansaru and others, to direct your @TheJusticeDept to investigate and prosecute those in your USAID that funded them and to tell him to offer assistance and support to our Government and people rather than threats and insults. I say this because America has vital strategic interests in Nigeria.

My advice to you is to tone down your divisive rhetoric, acquire a responsible and peace-orientated prescence of mind, be fair to our nation, stop stoking the fire of religious division, stop provoking a war and get your Secretary of State @SecRubio to meet our Foreign Minister @YusufTugga for a serious discussion.
