Gana made the assertion during a Wednesday appearance on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme.

A founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Jerry Gana, has asserted that if Peter Obi rejoins the party, he would defeat any presidential candidate in the northern states.
He argued that Obi will successfully carry out the feat because Northerners are fair-minded and just.
Gana made the assertion during a Wednesday appearance on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme.
Speaking further, he stated that some potential opponents might choose to remain silent, rather than challenge the PDP in the 2027 presidential election.
He said this is because the PDP has become “so good, fascinating, and real.”
He stated that efforts are still on to woo Obi back to the party.
“The PDP is on the ground. I’m a researcher, and I research opinions. In the northern states, Peter Obi under the PDP will defeat any candidate because our people are very fair-minded and just.
“We are reaching out to Peter Obi. Because I’m leading a search team and there are many brilliant people, Peter may be good, but we have somebody better. So, we are searching,” he said.
Gana also said the opposition party made a mistake about the circumstances that led to Obi’s exit from the PDP.
“We made a mistake in 2023. If I were Atiku, I would say, ‘Peter, it is now your turn; I would give you a vice-president,’ but he didn’t,” he said.
