The Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Farouk Umar, has publicly declared his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, urging loyalty from his emirate and symbolically leading a chant of “Tinubu, Tinubu, Tinubu in 2027” during a condolence visit by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.

The First Lady, accompanied by a high-level delegation of prominent women, visited Daura on Saturday to commiserate with the family of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari and the Emir of Daura over the loss.
Her entourage included Hajiya Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President; Hajiya Fatima Abbas, wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives; Hajiya Laila Barau, wife of the Deputy Senate President; as well as wives of governors, ministers, military chiefs, and other dignitaries.
In his remarks, the Emir praised President Tinubu for his unwavering support for the late Buhari and the Daura Emirate, describing the president’s gesture as one of true statesmanship and unity.
“We are grateful for President Tinubu’s kindness and his demonstration of leadership in times of grief. He has shown us that he is not just a political figure but a true friend of the Daura people,” the Emir said.
He emphasized that the people of Daura would not forget Tinubu’s “good deeds” and pledged their continued support.
“Repeat after me: Tinubu, Tinubu, Tinubu in 2027,” the nonagenarian monarch said, standing and leading the chant in the presence of the First Lady and other guests.
Mrs Tinubu, in her tribute, hailed the late President Buhari as a paragon of integrity and national service, both as a military leader and a civilian president.
She noted that her visit was not only official but also deeply personal, given the close relationship between her family and the late president.
“President Buhari was not only a statesman but a symbol of discipline and devotion to Nigeria. My husband has lost not just a colleague but a dear friend,” she said.
She also acknowledged the support of the Emir and the people of Daura, describing them as “a proud people with a heritage of producing worthy sons like Buhari.”
The First Lady prayed for the peaceful repose of the late president and strength and comfort for the royal family and the Daura community.
