Ibadan, July 3, 2025 — The Obidient Movement in Oyo State has officially declared its full alignment with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a major political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a press statement issued by the Oyo State Council of Obidients, under the leadership of Ayo Akinyemi and signed by the Movement’s Public Relations Officer, Jeje Ibukun, the group confirmed that it has fully embraced the ADC platform. This strategic move comes on the heels of the endorsement of the ADC by His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi, who was instrumental in the coalition talks that led to the mass entry of Obidients into the party during a landmark political convergence held in Abuja on July 2, 2025.
According to Akinyemi, “The time has come for all Obidients in Oyo State to rally under one umbrella with a common vision to rescue Nigeria. The ADC now represents the hope, unity, and progress that the Obidient Movement stands for. With Peter Obi’s endorsement and participation in this coalition, we are confident that our journey toward a better Nigeria is gaining unstoppable momentum.”
He further extended gratitude to former members of various political parties in the state who have now joined forces under the ADC, describing it as a historic unification of progressives determined to end the reign of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
“This is no longer about individual ambition or party loyalty. It is about Nigeria. It is about our future. We must all put our hands on deck and work together until we achieve the victory we seek,” Akinyemi emphasized.
He concluded by declaring, “We now have one big family. A better Nigeria is possible, and it starts now with the ADC.”
The official endorsement of the ADC by leading figures in the Obidient Movement signals a realignment that could redefine the political landscape in Oyo State and across the nation ahead of the 2027 elections.
