Former Governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido, has declared his willingness to support any democratic alliance aimed at removing President Bola Tinubu from power in 2027, provided it aligns with national interest.

Lamido made this known in an interview with Vanguard on Wednesday in Abuja, expressing support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC)-led coalition spearheaded by former Senate President, David Mark.
While throwing his weight behind efforts by patriotic Nigerians to confront the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Lamido made it clear that his political allegiance remains with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a party he helped to build.
Lamido said, “Yes. I’m open to any arrangement that can confront the All Progressives Congress and rescue Nigeria. I’ll support those who share that goal. I’ll campaign with them.
“But my platform is the PDP. Even though it’s very sick, I will stay and fight for its survival.”
He noted that the coalition movement under the ADC was a commendable effort, but stated that not all committed politicians need to exit their parties to pursue national objectives.
Reacting to Senator David Mark’s decision to head the new opposition coalition outside the PDP, Lamido acknowledged the move as a personal sacrifice but insisted his own contribution would be to remain and revive the PDP from within.
He said, “David Mark made his sacrifice by stepping away. Mine is different. I choose to stay and fight. We’re all making sacrifices in different ways for the same objective.”
He emphasised his primary concern is the future and unity of Nigeria, stating, “My take is simple: I want a united, secure, safe, and prosperous Nigeria. That’s what I truly want.”
Lamido also took a swipe at FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, accusing him and his allies of deliberately trying to destabilise the PDP from within.
He claimed that Wike is collaborating with Tinubu and the APC in the hope of benefiting from the PDP’s collapse.
