Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a woman attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of cocaine out of the country through the Port Harcourt International Airport.
The suspect identified as Ihensekhien Miracle Obehi, was apprehended on Sunday, May 3, 2025, as she prepared to board a Qatar Airways flight to Iran via Doha.
Dressed in a hijab in an apparent attempt to evade detection, Obehi was stopped at the airport’s departure hall following actionable intelligence received by the agency.Officers of the anti-drug agency further recovered three wraps of cocaine concealed in her private part and two large parcels stashed in false compartments of her handbag after a thorough search.
The suspect had also ingested 67 pellets of the illicit drug.
She was immediately placed under close observation, during which she excreted the ingested drug parcels over the course of four days. In her statement to authorities, she admitted that she had planned to swallow 70 pellets but managed only 67, opting to conceal the remaining three in her private part.
The total weight of the cocaine recovered from her body and belongings amounted to 2.523 kilograms.
