Abuja-Based Gospel Artist, Timileyin Ajayi, Beheads Girlfriend; Other Body Parts Found In His Home: What We Know So Far

In A Case That Has Sent Shockwaves Across Nigeria, Gospel Artist And Motivational Speaker Timileyin Ajayi Was Arrested In Abuja On January 12, 2025, After Being Found In Possession Of The Severed Head Of His Girlfriend. The incident unfolded in the Orozo area of Abuja, where the bike driver who conveyed him reported noticing Ajayi acting suspiciously while carrying a black nylon bag dripping with blood. Witnesses described how the bag attracted swarms of flies, prompting them to alert the authorities. Upon arrival, law enforcement officers inspected the bag and uncovered the severed head of a young woman, who Ajayi identified as he’s girlfriend.
Ajayi, who hails from Kabba in Kogi State, was immediately taken into custody. During initial questioning, he reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that a heated argument had escalated into violence, ultimately leading to the tragic act.
The Background Of The Victim

The victim, who was identified as Salome Eleojo Adaidu, an Igala lady and a graduate of the Department of Library and Information Sciences at Kogi State University, Anyigba, where she completed her studies in 2023. Her family described her as a vibrant, kind, and diligent young woman, who kept to herself and doesn’t go out. Tragically, her life was cut short in the most brutal manner.
Victim’s Family’s Side Of The Story
According to her family, Salome was abducted by Ajayi and his accomplices after boarding the wrong keke. They have vehemently denied claims that she was in a relationship with the suspect, describing the assertion as a deliberate falsehood spread by Ajayi to deflect attention from his heinous actions. The statement revealed a new take to the case.
From gathered information, the victim, Salome Eleojo Adaidu, had left her home around 11 a.m. to meet a friend in Karu. She unknowingly boarded a keke driven by the suspect, Oluwatimileyin Ajayi, which tragically led to her abduction and subsequent murder.
Though an alleged uncle of the victim came on X (Twitter) to say the suspect and victim where actually in a relationship. See below.

Salome Eleojo Adaidu was laid to rest in her hometown, surrounded by grieving family and friends.
Another Side Of The Story
Accordind to a witness, Unaru Caleb, the incident unfolded during a Sunday service at an unnamed church. The horrifying discovery was made after a fello congregant, acting on a sudden urge, stopped the suspect and insisted on inspecting the bag and that was how the suspect was caught carrying the severed head of his girlfriend in a sack.
Inside the sack was the freshly severed head of a young woman, identified as the suspect’s girlfriend. Witnesses noted that the victim had recently styled her hair in trendy “million braids.” The horrifying find sent shockwaves through the congregation, prompting them to raise an alarm.
The suspect, was apprehended and beaten by a mob before being interrogated. A video obtained by SaharaReporters shows the suspect seated on the ground, confessing to the crime while surrounded by onlookers.

During questioning, the suspect revealed that an argument with his girlfriend turned fatal. He claimed the altercation escalated when she allegedly grabbed a knife, which he attempted to take from her. According to him, this resulted in her being fatally stabbed. Ajayi admitted to dismembering her body to dispose of it more easily. He further disclosed that the rest of her remains were still at his house.

The church member, Umaru Caleb, who shared the incident on Facebook, described the event as a shocking and terrifying experience.

“This Is A Tragic Case, And We Are Committed To Uncovering All The Facts,” The Spokesperson Said.
The incident has triggered widespread reactions across social media, with many expressing horror and disbelief. Others have called for greater awareness of domestic violence and mental health issues, particularly within religious and close-knit communities.
A women’s rights activist, Omolara Adekunle, emphasized the importance of addressing the signs of domestic violence before they escalate.
