Following the recent breakdown of dialogue between the Ministers of Education and Labour, and the Joint Action Committee of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU), the duo of the university-based unions have directed their teeming members across the country to mobilise for a nationwide protest.

The protest, according to a circular directed to all branch chairmen of the two unions and made available to the media in Abuja on Sunday, will commence on 8th July, 2024, across the state chapters of the federation, and a national protest in Abuja on 18th July.
Jointly signed by the General Secretary of NASU and National President of SSANU, Prince Peters Adeyemi, and Comrade Mohammed H. Ibrahim, respectively, the circular said; “The National body of the Joint Action Committee (JAC)of NASU and SSANU met on Thursday, 4th July, 2024 to appraise and take position on the current situation in respect of the withheld (4) four months’ salaries and other grievances of our members in University and Inter-University Centres.
