THAT DISTASTEFUL DISPLAY IN THE CHURCH
In case you haven’t seen it, here it is below;
I have tried to convince myself that perhaps it was a staged drama. Or a joke. But I have been assured it happened.
So, it was the Pastor’s wife’s birthday. And to show his love, he gave her N50 million. In cash and made a public display of this. And madam pastor too started rolling on the floor. Distasteful acts.
Why would anyone do this kind of silliness?
And it raises questions and queries?
- Where did all the money come from?
- Why do cash gift?
- Why do a vain public display?
- Why do such a thing during a harsh period in Nigeria when many cannot even feed daily?
- When did fellowships and church services turn to such jokes?
INSTEAD OF GIVING THE HUGE AMOUNT TO HER COULDNT YOU FOR EXAMPLE SPEND THE SAME MONEY TO BLESS MANY PEOPLE?
I am a Pentecostal Christian and have been one since 1987. And I will never stop saying it that within the Pentecostal fold you have unbelievable excesses. And insensitivity.
It’s in the same fold you will have a Pastor boast about his private jets and that you cannot give less than a certain amount in offering because “his God” is not a poor God.
It’s in Pentecostal churches that the Pastor tells people to form lines and amounts in dollars and multiples of a Naira are called and the donors are prayed for. No prayers for you if you can’t come out and line up to give. It’s a joke!!!
In the same fold you had one prominent Pastor stand at the RCCG camp auditorium platform and declare that if anyone failed to give tithes the person and the family would die when God has not said so in His word!! And no one corrected or chastised him. I was in shock. Still am.
It’s in Pentecostal churches you will see Pastors promise wealth and riches If members will “sow seeds” as if God has legitimized Kalokalo.
It’s in Pentecostal services that during a two hour service there will be over five or six types of offerings as if church service is just about money. So mercantile.
It’s Pentecostal ministers that will bombard us with so called prophecies on who becomes president and none will come to pass. And none of them will apologize for the deceit. Some have even said God told them they would become President. They have produced drama and comedy out of holy things.
I have been saying these things for years and it hasn’t made me popular. Indeed one of the pastors I didn’t know called me on a Saturday and said I was behaving like an anti-Christ. I felt sorry for the blockhead.
Christianity is NOT about worldly riches. Certainly not about money. Don’t get me wrong. It’s good to have enough money and be comfortable. But it shouldn’t become doctrine. Special prayers are said for those who give money and pay all kinds of offerings. Hardly special prayers for those who evangelize and proselytize.
Worse is that the orthodox churches now copy these things. I was in a major Anglican Church and I saw banners on all these things and the pastors kept hammering on money.
JUST WHAT IS WRONG WITH US THAT WE HAVE MESSED UP A SIMPLE FAITH THAT JESUS AND THE APOSTLES HANDED OVER TO US?
Some of us will not stop codemning these distasteful acts. No matter how unpopular it makes us.
Jesus will correct and perfect His Church and save it from charlatans. Amen.

I urge you all to read an excellent book titled IN GOD’s NAME by David Yallop. It’s a true story of the shenanigans in the Catholic Church about money, bribery, corruption, adultery and sexual abuse especially in the Vatican. Shocking.
