The court said Olaoye’s selection did not follow did process and subsequently ordered the state government to conduct a fresh process to select and install the new Soun.
An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso has nullified the selection and coronation of Oba Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso.
The court said Olaoye’s selection did not follow did process and subsequently ordered the state government to conduct a fresh process to select and install the new Soun.
The ruling followed a suit filed by one of the contestants for the throne, Kabir Laoye.
Olaoye had been announced by the state government as the new Soun and was installed on September 8, 2023.
Recall that Prince Kabir Olaoye, one of the contenders for the Soun of Ogbomoso stool, had dragged Ghandi to court, saying he was not eligible for the position of Soun of Ogbomoso.
Laoye had filed a suit to challenge Ghandi Olaoye’s selection, saying he was not eligible for the position.
The court ruled nullified the selection and installation of Ghandi Olaoye as Soun of Ogbomoso and ordered a fresh selection process to choose the monarch for the second largest town in Oyo State.
