The administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has demolished DATKEM Plaza, which is owned by Yeye Olufunke, the wife of Senator Gbenga Daniel.
The mall, located on Folagbade Street in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, was demolished within three days of notification.
The Project Manager and Developer, Engr. Olusegun Lawal, who is of Adeolumi Environmental Services Limited, made this known in a statement on Sunday.
Lawal said the plaza is an iconic, solid structure with full approval, whose construction started in 2009 and was scheduled for commissioning at the end of September.
He said the ground floor and mezzanine is a banking hall fully fitted with bank trap doors, and CHUBB strong room, adding that it had a Kone elevator installed by Kresta Laurel Limited, another company owned by Daniel, a former two-term Governor of Ogun State.
The Project Manager said about 80 brand new split air-conditioners just completely installed by Holomicool Nigeria Limited were also destroyed alongside the building with a 150 KVA generator set and transformer.
A fire fighting system installed by Flory Limited and external cladding being completed by Vertex Nigeria Limited also went down.
Revealing the reasons adduced by the State Government for the demolition, Lawal said: “Not enough parking space (front of Building is Folagbade Street, sided by two (2) undeveloped streets which is being prepared by the Developers to be tarred to support parking while the empty piece of land at the back is being negotiated for lease to complement car parking.
“Inadequate Muster Point: Muster point is any space outside the building where people can gather in case of fire or emergency. There is ample space around the building that can be used as Muster Point.
“Inadequate Airspace. This is a new one. But there is enough airspace as there is no single adjoining building around the four sides of the building.
“There is also no concrete fence but only metal grills to ensure proper airflow.
Adedamola Adetayo’s Account
I stumbled on this video just now and thought to talk about it before I touch the topic for today.
Imagine the WASTE going on and the COST of generating a NEEDLESS WASTE OF RESOURCES.
Do you know that?
IN THE BEGINNING, long long time ago, Gbenga Daniel, Ibukunle Amosun and Dapo Abiodun, the current Eleyi of Ogun State, were jolly good friends.
They were contemporaries, young men, then in their early 40s.
Together, in 2003 under the able leadership and guidance of the Seriki Monafiki of Yoruba land who sits on the hilltop of mischief, the three business associates ambushed Chief Olusegun Osoba and threw him under the bus, effectively TERMINATING his ADMINISTRATION as AD Governor of Ogun State.
- THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY, Otunba Gbenga Daniel was the Eleyi of Ogun State, a modern day emperor.
He had his own terror machines well oiled, deployed and managed by that young man from LASU.
Daniel was the all powerful Lord of the Manor.
Soon, he had problems with Ibukunle Amosun and Dapo Abiodun.
DANIEL was QUARRELING with AMOSUN.AND ABIODUN together.
Anybody talk any nonsense and Ogun State Government bulldozers are standing his door steps or the LASU Associates will visit him to hold a friendly meeting.
As some point, Gbenga Daniel stood ready to dethrone the Aláké of Egba land as the Kabiyesi forgot he was under the authority of LGA Chairman and his palace was just a glorified mobilization center for Emperors Eleyi of Ogun State
AMOSUN and ABIODUN were good riends then and they plotted to TERMINATE the INFLUENCE and reign of DANIEL.
They achieved it in 2011 and Amosun became the new Eleyi
- YESTERDAY, Amosun was Eleyi of Ogun State. No sooner had Amosun become the Eleyi of Ogun State than he turned into a Mussolini and Hitler rolled into one.
He became agbako, an Abacha incarnate.
God knows he may have just thrown all his critics into the Ogun River if he had had maximum dictatorial powers.
He targeted Daniel for SERIOUS QUARRELING.
He was quarreling with DANIEL and ABIODUN together.
Anyone who remotely linked himself to Daniel was in trouble and risked starvation in the Government of Amosun.
In the year 2011 and for good 8years, Ibukunle Amosun as Governor placed heavy embargo on CONFERENCE HOTEL which was then nearing completion , a project owned by Gbenga Daniel, his immediate predecessor.
That project was LOCKED DOWN for 8years as Amosun swore it will never take off. I believe he was just restrained from pulling it down.
Amosun and Daniel were QUARRELING then, and at that same time DANIEL and ABIODUN were good friends, they working did everything to TERMINATE AMOSUN’S INFLUENCE.
- TODAY, it is a full cycle, the friendship has been reshuffled and Abiodun who is the current Eleyi is quarreling with AMOSUN and DANIEL together.
DANIEL AND AMOSUN, strange or hitherto estranged bed fellows are the new tag team partners and their mission is to TERMINATE ABIODUN’S INFLUENCE.
DANIEL and AMOSUN are now friends “fighting” the current Eleyi of Ogun State in a bid to TERMINATE HIS INFLUENCE.
Eleyi can’t take it sitting down so he is also fighting back
For starters, this building said to be “owned” by Daniel’s wife has suddenly offended town planning rules and regulations.
It is being demolished.
He will do it if you dont gather all the Kabiyesis in Ogun State to rush to Oke-Mosan to beg the new emperor.
Towards the end of the administration, after the Elders have begged all QUARRELING SIDES, the Plaza will be REBUILT AT THE COST OF OGUN STATE TAX PAYERS MONEY.
NO CARE, NO SENSE, NO DISCRETION AND NO CIRCUMSPECTION TO EVEN THINK OF THE COST TO THE OWNER, PEOPLE AND GOVERNMENT FOR THE GLARING IDIOCY OF THE ACTION!!!!
We saw it in Ibadan when “constituted authority” of Oyo State demolished the Ayefele building housing Fresh FM. He was angry at the time but when he was pacified he built it the house back, WITH OYO STATE MONEY OFCOURSE.
- TOMORROW, DANIEL, AMOSUN, ABIODUN having all taken their turns as Eleyi of Ogun , will be in one peppersoup joint drinking beer and wine in company of correct and straight Opekes massaging their tired necks and they will be laughing at all the poor market men and women, the rural dwellers, the ignorant grassroots people and all the fools like Adedamola Adetayo who took sides in their quarrels.
That is what GOVERNANCE has been reduced to in our time, right under our noses.
And we do nothing but to rush to Pastor Adeboye’s camp or to the Òsùká-carrying Àáfàs of Ilorin to PRAY FOR OUR TURN TO DO OUR OWN CHOPPING AND OPPRESSION.
There is a problem.
Chief Obafemi Awolowo Òdòlé Ilé-Ifè said it then in December 1983, I remember now.
I heard it straight from his mouth as a 13-year old boy.
He said then, on LTV 8, something like ” When the time is ripe and the masses get tired of their sufferings, they will RISE BY THEMSELVES to rescue themselves from the grip and shackles of oppression and the oppressors”
We are getting there.
