Hakeem Baba Ahmed, spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) spoke a few days ago, threatening to expel the Igbo and Southern Nigeria from the Nigerian nation. Promptly, Garba Shehu, spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari replied, warning Baba-Ahmed off of speaking for the North or the Government of Nigeria.
Garba Shehu said: “We are aware of the latest statement from the Northern Elders Forum. …. Who gave them the right to ask for the exclusion or expulsion of anyone, group or section of the country from the Federal Republic of Nigeria?”
No matter the grandstanding of Hakeem Baba-Ahmed and the Northern Elders Forum, Northern Nigeria does not have the industrial, technical or military capacity to support itself or to engage in all out warfare with southern Nigeria. It is unable, even now, to defeat the bandits marauding and dominating its territory.
The north also does not have the education, investment or technical resources to equip and supply a modern armed forces.
Yet it keeps challenging for war against Christians and the South. The Northern Elders Forum in particular, keeps issuing threats of war and expelling the south from Nigeria. It’s youth, following in the footstep of it’s elders, keep spewing hate and gathering in deadly street gangs, violently spilling the blood of southerners and Christians in drug induced orgies of bloodletting.
And yet their territory, the far North of Nigeria, is near barren land and does not qualify to be integrated into any progressive National entity.
The north pays no taxes and offers no resources or investments for the upkeep of itself or of Nigeria. All of its productive youth and elite have abandoned their territory and run away to other people’s cities and communities in the Middle Belt and Southern Nigeria.
So how does the north fight for a land it’s people are already running away from? How do you fight to defend the grounds you already consider worthless and a territory your youth have turned to horror acres and bloodletting fields?
The North is already at war with itself. It does not need the south to destroy what’s left of its abandoned territory. It is already undertaking it’s own self destruction. The entire territory larger than many African or European countries have been overwhelmed by banditry, bloodletting and every form of gangsterism, sorcery, voyeurism and vodoo. Marabouts have become their guiding lights and civilizational icons.
The far north is just arid territory, not only it’s land but in soul and spirit, sponging on southern Nigeria and yet it boasts and dissembles. It deceives itself thinking it deceives the world. A man naked for all the world to see is laughing at the man covered up in workman clothing.
The leach, the hanger on, the free loader on the national treasury is asking to expel the owner of the house and provider of his upkeep. It is only in Nigeria that you see such preposterous pronouncement by totally misguided and bigoted tribal halfwits.
