Former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan on Friday addressed supporters who have been clamouring for him to join the 2023 presidential race
During a visit to his office on Friday morning, the former president told those who stormed his private office in Abuja to demand he declares for the 2023 presidency that the political process is ongoing, urging them to watch as things unfold.
He Specifically stated that their is no guarantee that he will run for the 2023 presidential race yet.
He said this while addressing a group of supporters including women and youths who came with posters to his office in Abuja bearing inscriptions such as “Goodluck Jonathan, you must run”, “We need you to restore Nigeria.”
He said: “Yes you are calling me to come and declare for the next election, I cannot tell I’m declaring. The political process is ongoing just watch out. The key role you must play is that Nigeria must get somebody that will carry young people along.”
This development comes after it had been reported that campaign posters urging former President Goodluck Jonathan to join the 2023 presidential race have emerged at the National Secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
The posters which were seen on the walls of the party secretariat carried the inscription ”Goodluck Jonathan You Must Run.”
Similar posters were seen on the fences of many buildings on the Blantyre street leading to the APC Secretariat, further fueling speculations that Jonathan may be nursing an ambition to return to the Aso Rock Villa in 2023.
It is however unclear, those behind the posters.
