There are some legislators we hardly hear their names. They do not make any meaningful contributions on the floor of the house. They are more interested in being members of “juicy” committees and lobbying for personal interests.
This man is a professional politician.
He started as a Councilor in 1996.
He has been in the National assembly for 18 years.
2003 – House of Reps
2007 – House of Reps.
2011 to date, Senator….10 years running, and counting!
When a new assembly is inaugurated, they buy new vehicles for themselves. Those that were previously in the assembly take home the vehicles allocated to them in the previous assembly. They also auction the furniture and office equipment to themselves and new ones are replaced with tax payers` money.
They re-invest what they have received into contesting new elections. They are incapable of running private businesses because they are used to free money.
These are the ones that quickly approve that Nigeria should borrow, borrow and borrow for them to receive their kickbacks. For whatever the senate approves as loans, each of them allegedly receive a “thank you” package in cash.
Many of them cannot recite the national anthem or the pledge.
Where does that happen in a normal society? In countries like Sweden, official vehicles are not bought for legislators.
Also in the United States whose model of democracy Nigeria has adopted, with the exception of the Senate Leadership, who are driven by Capitol Police, Senators are generally driven by regular staff members when on official business.
The House does not provide a standard lease for vehicles. Members should use the lease form supplied by the car dealer/leasing company. Prior to signing a lease, the Member/ Member-Elect must submit the proposed lease, accompanied by a Vehicle Lease Attachment, to the Administrative Counsel for review and approval.
In the United Kingdom and almost all the developed nations of the world, the above is the norm.
However, in Nigeria, it means that somebody that has been in the national assembly of Nigeria since 2003, has received 5 official vehicles for personal keeps!! The astronomical and obscene wages is another matter for another day!!
These people are everything that is wrong with Nigeria.

Nigerians awaits Senator Aduda’s rebuttal to this write up, we need to know the legislations he has championed, supported, written, proposed, his achievements in the senate and whatever committee(s) he belonged and still belong to. Did he keep the official cars, furniture and other benefits they receive at the legislature? These are some of the questions we need the senator and others like him (who are the majority), to answer to the Nigerian people. The Nigerian people sent them to the legislature to go and work for them and not to steal from them and lord over them.
Nigerians should Stop asking “How did we get here?”
Our silence as a people who fight one another over them, make us culpable and has brought us low.
This man was re-elected in 2019.
