Northerners have been “voting leaders and not porn stars” forever, although one might add, not to be outdone in the sex department, somehow they have also legitimized pedophilia as inherent part of their culture. Now, between voting porn stars and ~tolerating~ celebrating pedophilia, I think I’d just rather stick with voting.
On other fora, yet another variation of similar commentary went along the lines of Northerners would rather strategize over power than BBN entertainment.
Even though I am not a fan of Big Brother Nigeria because of my perception about the program, the sense behind it, and because of the damage it has done, and continue to do to the moral fabric of our youths, I believe the comparison to northerners voting leaders and not porn stars is false and misplaced.
Northerners have been strategizing over power for the sake of it since before independence. Nigerians should remember that they weren’t ready for independence in 1957.
And yes, they have held on to power far longer than the south becauseof their penchant for opportunism. Too bad that’s not the end of the inquiry into Nigeria ethnic peculiarities and preferences.
Now, fast forward 60+ years since independence, which of the two regions is worse off, less developed. This is the fun part, or since we are in the season of soberness, the north, if it were to be a country, would rank among the least developed, most impoverished country in the world. Not sure where the south wouid be, but definitely way better.
Translation — definitely the south is doing something better than the north.
Whether it is music, nollywood, fintech, the list goes on. Young southerners gen-Xers are out there conquering the world, and what’s so wrong or bad about few hours of BBN distraction.
Think progressive ideas, the south is ahead. Protest against inequity and injustice, you find the south take the lead. #endsars, fuel price hike, are examples.
Now, if there is a movie in which there is a line about a dog named Ahmed, the northern youths would be up in arms, not protesting, but rioting, burning and looting, all in the name of defending Islamic religion, while youths in Saudi Arabia, would go about their normal buisness. Who is the deranged retarded fool of the two 🤔. JAMB question.
Now go to NNPC and CBN. Who do you find at the helm? Yes. Those who only vote leaders not porn stars.
Now, go to international oil companies, and the leading banks and consulting firms in Nigeria. Guess what. The head count is predominantly those who we are being told only vote porn stars.
Pray, how many people can CBN and NNPC employ. Compare the number to private sector in banking and oil and gas.
Leeching off publicly owned entities has a shorter shelf life than finding space in the private sector. NITEL is a good example. Remember NITEL. If there was still NITEL, the power hungry people will dominate it. How many of the power voting people work at MTN, GLO, AIRTEL etc.
And this are the type of youths, northern youths, that some people are holding up as role model for southern youths to emulate. If there is a better way to define retrogression and descent into debauchery, I don’t know it.
