South East Govs. Disown IPOB: Say Secessionist Group not speaking for Igbos: In response to the link that was shared on a whatsapp group, this debate ensued….
TA – This is good. But out of curiousity, can anyone guide me to any link where Muslim Northern governors jointly or unanimously condemn and dissociate themselves from militant Islamic group like Boko Haram since 2008?
Please educate me. I might have missed it🙏🏽
FA – Bokoharam is not a Northern Muslim agenda. It started long ago as a reactionary group against the rulling class under Matatsine. The group was crushed by Shagari’s regime. It later surfaced as Bokoharam under Sekerau. This time, they became important tools in winning elections. Why choose Borno as their base? Of all the Kindoms in the North, the only empire that was not conquered by Uthman Dan Fodio jihadists was Borno. It is not surprising that 90% of Bokoharam members are not Fulanis. They want to re-conquer the entire North from the Fulanis, impose their type of Islamic religion and if possible, move southward. One need to have an in-depth look at the problem in the North to see that there is a silent war against the oligarchy from all angles. The insurgents in most North West, North East and Central are coordinated by reactionary indigenous groups.
TA – You are not interested in answering the question sir?
The question is
..can anyone guide me to any link where Muslim Northern governors jointly or unanimously condemn and dissociate themselves from militant Islamic group like Boko Haram since 2008?
Please educate me. I might have missed it🙏🏽
Tinubu, Osoba, Strongly Oppose Yoruba Nation Agitation – This one is about the so-called Yoruba Leaders.
Kindly note that
- Igbo militants (Kanu et al) want Biafra state. Igbo leaders have condemned and moved against that
- Yoruba militants (Igboho et al) want Oduduwa state. Yoruba so-called leaders have condemned and moved against that
- Northern Muslim militants (Shekau et al) want a pure Sharia state, I need links to where Northern Muslim leaders have condemned and moved against that
Charlieman – hmmm, ododo oro (true talk)
FA – Somebody already sent an answer which was in tandem with my opinion. I only gave a brief overview of what Bokoharam stands for.
TA – Oh sorry. I didn’t see the ‘answer’. I wrongly assumed yours was an answer.
FA – Thanks. Check the message posted by SG at 5.27 am in response to your question.
TA – Oh. I already replied SG. His was not an answer to the question I asked. He rather sent a link where Northern Governors sought education etc for their militants. I asked for condemnation of and dissociation from militants and the causes they represent as my question clearly outlined and as shown in the examples I cited.🤷🏽♂️
OM – Arodan like question le le yi oo (this is a question with no end o)

NIGERIA: Sultan of Sokoto CONDEMNS Boko Haram Crackdown; another interesting angle…
RICH – I tried to post the link but couldn’t. The northern governor have not been in support of Boko Haram’s actions
TA – No sir. This is in fact the antithesis – the direct opposite of condemnation. This is also why I asked the question in the first instance.
Each agitation has a clear thematic undertone. For the East – a pure state of Biafra. For the West – a pure state of Oduduwa. For the north – a pure state of Islamic Sharia. The agitators have been very clear on their objectives. I have seen a sizeable leadership joint resistance in the first two instances. I am trying to get for the third so I can be better informed.
OM – Yes I’m using this as the opposite of what you asked and also how the Sultan is seen as the Supreme Leader.
TA – ok, thanks.
OM – they condemned the killings. Rich, it’s different from what @TA asked. They condemned the execution of hostage not the Boko Haram ideology.
RICH – Which is what BH is about. Killing people who are against their beliefs. They want a pure Islamic state governed by them. Always remember that Sharia laws exist in the north right from OBJ’s regime.
OM – @Rich let’s start with breaking down the two words Boko Haram.
AA – I am patiently waiting for a link with respect to (3).
What a brilliant question 👏👌
Condemning activities is not the same as condemning the ideology itself.
In high school chemistry, there is the aim/objective section, the apparatus , and methodology etc.
Condemning the apparatus (tools) and methodology (violence, kidnapping, banditry etc.,) is not the same as the outright condemnation of the objective, which for BH is the establishment of an Islamic state.
OM – God will continue to bless you sir.
TA – My thinking is that if today Arewa Consultative Forum and other Northern leaders (and governors like El Rufai) jointly begin to strongly condemn Boko Haram and the ideology they represeht, killer herders, forced quest for Sharia legal system etc as anti Islam and anti secular state with our kind of religious plurality, the throng of youths who do not like the killings may begin to have good leadership examples and thereby find their voices.
I haven’t been seeing that. That’s what motivated my questions.
FA – The Ibos belong to Igbo tribe and Yorubas have same origin or so most of us believe. The only weapon the North has been using to hold the different tribes together is Islam. Remove Islam, there will be no North.
AA – Uncle, it would be a different north, in which the majority tribe, Hausa, might actually discover itself, it’s political power.
TA – But I see the very opposite happening. I see Governors empowering state authorities to destroy alcohols that belong to non Muslims (intolerance), marrying off underage girls under the direct supervision of state authorities (in violation of the constitution), authorization for people who disagree with aspects of the Quran to be executed when they voiced their views and that under the direct authorities of state (in clear violation of the supreme constitution that guarantees freedom of expression) etc etc – the very same exact objective of Boko Haram!
Ayo Dada – if you think Nigeria does not need to be restructured along regional Lines, think again! It never fails, while the northern leaders, even when they do not agree with their region’s ideological beliefs, will almost certainly never do so publicly. Southern leaders and rulers have so much to learn from politically from their northern counterparts.
