United States President, Donald Trump, has questioned how Christa Pike’s execution by lethal injection could have failed, saying the process should not be difficult to carry out.

Tribune Online reports that Pike, 50, survived two rounds of lethal injection in Tennessee, making her the first person known to survive that method of execution.
“How does that happen?,” Trump said. “Should be easy to do. It shouldn’t be very difficult.”
Trump described Pike’s case as an “interesting situation” but said the decision on whether to attempt another execution would be left to Tennessee authorities.
“That was an interesting situation, but you’re going to have to speak to Tennessee about it. Whether or not they’re going to go forward,” he told reporters who traveled with him to Texas.
Pike remains alive and in critical condition following the failed execution. Her attorneys said Thursday that she was stabbed with at least seven needles during the procedure.
One of her lawyers, Randy Spivey, described the execution attempt as “cruel and torturous” and called on Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R-Tenn.) to commute her death sentence to life imprisonment.
Lee has since suspended all executions in Tennessee while the state reviews what happened, describing Pike’s case as a “tragedy.”
Pike had previously asked to be executed by hanging, arguing that blown veins in her arm could make it difficult for an execution team to access them for the administration of pentobarbital.
She was scheduled to become the first woman executed by Tennessee in 200 years.
Pike was convicted of torturing and murdering a classmate in 1995, when both were teenagers. She was found guilty after brutally beating the girl to death and cutting her body with a box cutter.
