Umahi gave this warning on Saturday while inspecting sections of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano road project as well as the Abuja-Lokoja highway.

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has cautioned contractors working on federal roads to adhere to agreed timelines or face investigations by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Umahi gave this warning on Saturday while inspecting sections of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano road project as well as the Abuja-Lokoja highway.
The Minister stated that he would invite anti-graft agencies to probe contractors handling sections of the Abuja–Lokoja highway who, despite collecting some mobilisation funds, have achieved less than 20 per cent progress on their projects.
Speaking on the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road, he said, “We have informed the president that the time of completion for the project is 14 months for section 1 and 3 and 2. For section 1 and 3, a total of 118 kilometres was given at a total price of N252 billion.
On the Abuja to Lokoja road, the Minister put the length at about 230 kilometres multiplied by two, stressing that the entire length was about 460 kilometres.
Umahi threatened the contractor handling the project that if substantial work is not completed by November, the work will be discontinued.
