I do not know Bukola Saraki personally. I have never seen him physically and never spoken to him.
The present governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahmam Abdulrasaq is a friend and has been since 1999. I did projects for him when was a private businessman since 1999. I am presently doing projects for him in Kwara and hope to keep doing projects for him as long as he desires my services. I dare say, we are good friends.
I am an architect.
My gripe with the Saraki family began in 1989, ten years before I met Governor AbdulRahman. So it has absolutely nothing to do with their political differences.
My gripe with Olusola and Bukola is personal. Very personal.
Olusola Saraki, Bukolas late father set up a branch of the Societe Generale Bank in Nigeria sometime in the early 80s.
Olusola Saraki sourced funds from his friends in the new political party NPN (National Party of Nigeria), the ruling party from 1979 to 1983. Most of his friends deposited their monies in his bank out of loyalty to their friendship and in support of one of theirs. My father was probably one of the smallest depositors in the bank. But a huge chunk of his retirement savings was in the SGB. My father retired from NTA in 1979.
One of the biggest depositors was Dantata and Sons (later became Dantata and Sawoe). Their entire pension fund was deposited in Sarakis Bank.
Bukola Saraki, a 24 year old trained Doctor (who never practiced medicine) was the Managing Director. Most of the depositors were unaware of this singular fact. They all assumed, as was presented to them, that Olusola was the MD.
To cut the story short, this bank was set up as a fraudulent bank. The sole purpose was to scam its investors and depositors of their monies. The investigations have proven this fact even as I personally disagree with the depth of the process.
In 1989 a day before they declared bankruptcy, $200m (Two Hundred Million Dollars) was withdrawn from the bank by the Sarakis!
My editorial: If I was a Dantata, the richest black family in the World, the Sarakis will never see peace. They will not have the audacity to run for public office, talk more for the presidency. I would proscribe them to the stenchy annals of history, deep in its bowels for the criminals they are. They are worthless thieves who took advantage of the good faith of “friends”. They are an evil bunch with not an ounce of dignity or integrity.
Olusola died with not one friendship intact from my fathers group of friends. Not one of them has anything good to say about this fraudster.
The living depositors of this criminal bank and sons and daughters of late depositors need to all rise and ask for a thorough investigation not the sham investigation that led to the EFCC chasing after a bank director for N3.6b fraud. What about the MD, Bukola? What about the Board? Mr. Izuagbe, the director, was just a fall guy!
They must hear from our fathers and mothers from their graves! They have blood on their collective hands. We must speak on their behalf!
Let the Saraki’s be fully investigated.
Might I ask the source of Bukolas enormous wealth? The wealth that bought him a 5 million British pounds home in London and over 90 houses/properties in Ilorin alone, not to talk of properties in Abuja and Lagos? What is his industry? What factories or businesses does he own? How many people does he employ?
This is the man that coined the corrupt phrase “anticipatory declaration of assets” anticipating what he will loot as a senator!
Kwarans saw the result of Bukolas failed 8 years of governance and 6 years as Senate president, a position his criminal mentor and father held in the second republic. What projects were executed in his 8 years?
What are Bukolas achievements as Senate President? Does anyone still remember how he scammed his colleagues with his early dawn sneak and vote while they were meeting with the President? How dirty can you get before everyone recognizes you for the fraud you are?
How is the Ile Arugbo, the disputed property claimed by the Sarakis, a property sandwiched between government offices on Ilorin’s main boulevard, a property of their father? The master plan clearly shows a series of government offices suddenly interrupted by a “Private” parcel of land almost 400 meters long? Who is kidding who? They have lost all court cases on this land so far. They are appealing until they find a judge that will accept their bribe. That isn’t an impossibility in this climate of compromised justice and judges.
After Bukolas 8 years as governor of Kwara, the state did not have a secretariat! The state rented over 90 private properties owned by the Sarakis as government offices! Conflict of interest and “fantastical corruption” does no justice to these ingrates.
Kwara was founded in May 1967! This is one of the original 12 states. Ilorin has been its capital city for 55 years!
Apart from the Zimbabwean farmers he brought in briefly to the state what are his accomplishments. Someone please list them for us to be educated.
Bukola sold the Kwara Public Park, a huge expanse of public recreation land to Shoprite. It was returned to the state after a court ruling and Shoprite was refunded its monies. The land was sold for N100m (One Hundred Million Naira) but was appraised at N2b! That’s Two Billion Naira. That’s an “M” versus a “B”.
Kwarans have been bamboozled by Olusola Saraki since the inception of the state in 1967. He received a hero’s welcome every time he landed in Ilorin! The people of Ilorin have nothing to show for this loyalty. They were caught in the “Stockholm Syndrome”. He did nothing for them but he is their National superstar and that’s all that mattered.
He threw crumbs on Sallah day in front of Ile Arugbo (old people’s home). This recurring dehumanizing activity has led to scores and scores of people being trampled to death. This did not deter Bukola from continuing this undignified, anti-Islamic practice of throwing food at human beings, reducing them to less than wild animals. This is the essence of who Bukola and Olusola are, scums of the earth.
The fact is that Ile Arugbo was a guest/slaughter house for Olusola and Bukola. Ask any Kwaran not blinded by political illiteracy.
The rumor is that Bukola was cursed by his thieving father on his death bed. I never wish anyone bad but I wish Bukola joins his father in the hottest part of hell. It is where they both belong.
